He steps into his vehicle and looks inside. "Where to sit?" He thinks and glances at every corner. He sees a "figure" in one corner and makes a beeline for that spot, pulling the door behind him shut.
"Welcome home..." a soft, sleepy voice says. She pulls the jacket that she's used as a blanket away from her face and smiles at him.
He gives her a peck on the lips before removing his backpack and sitting beside her. She tagged along for the ride, to meet him at the airport, and now they were on their way home.
A week's work and vacation trip plus hours of flying time to and from the US has caused her to long for him. She missed him. He missed her. Although he was grateful to have spent time with family this time, he wanted her. He wanted her to be with him. Their schedules, however, got in the way of planning for this trip. They've talked abou this before. They're going to make better plans for the future.
Rj wrapped his arm around her; Maine readjusted her sitting, leaning her head on his chest. He kissed her on the temple. "How are you? I missed you." He said, keeping his face buried in her head. He put his other arm around her now, enveloping her in an embrace.
"Ako rin...I missed you, Tans..."
"Okay ka lang?"
"Okay naman....medyo inaantok pa...."
"Sige....matulog ka na muna....malayo-layo pa naman biyahe pauwi...." He rubbed her arm and rhythmically patted it as if putting his baby to sleep. "Kuya....medyo bagalan mo...." He told his driver who looked at him via the rearview mirror and nodded.
Rj closed his eyes as well and was soon fast asleep with his love, Ms. Maine, in his arms.
