"Are you coming home soon?"
"In a while....last of the photo op groups....wait for me?"
"Naman...Congratulations on tonight's concert....you were on fire!'
"Thanks. I wouldn't have done it without you...alon..."
"I would have been ALONe without you...."
"Corny mo!"
"You started it!"
"O sige...wait lang....they're calling me na again....uwi na ako...."
"Okay....love you!"
"Love you more..."
Richard turned off his phone and pocketed it before turning to the crowd and smiling. He just ended his first solo concert. It was a success. The house was packed to SRO. He had the time of his life performing for his followers and with his closest friends. He even had the love of his life, Maine, perform with him. He was fulfilled.
Richard couldn't wait to end the evening. Exhaustion was finally creeping up on him as he set out to leave the venue for home – his home with Maine. She left the concert venue earlier than him to avoid the crowd. She secretly came into the audience area to watch him perform. She quietly snuck out to perform with him on stage but was also quickly whisked away after their production.
Their unit was dark except for the usual automatic night light. Richard put down his bag at the foyer and removed his shoes, before taking his used clothes to the laundry room behind the kitchen. He had a habit of hanging up his sweaty clothes before laundering.
He walked into the living room and was about to enter the bedroom when a bright slip of paper caught his attention. It was stuck to the wall just beside the door.
He smiled as he read the note over and over again. He took a quick glance of their bedroom. Everything looked normal. Maine's side of the bed was lumpy so he just quietly slipped into the bathroom and showered.
In an oversized shirt and boxer shorts, Richard was about to step out of the bathroom when another note caught his eye. It was stuck on the door behind their night clothes.
Richard wondered what this was about. He was already exhausted from a whole day of activities and just wanted to retire for the night. But seeing these little notes made him a little excited.
Just as he was about to turn off the bathroom light when he re-entered the bedroom, another note caught his eye. It was on the floor in front of him.
He glanced at the room again and saw that the comforter on the bed was now moved and the "lump" that was "Maine" was no longer there.
He walked into the living room and noticed the sheer curtains that were by the balcony door, swaying. He walked toward it but noticed another note on the wall in front of him.
Richard turned and went out to the balcony. Maine was standing there with a small cake in her hands.
"Congratulations!" She said as Richard hurried up to her and kissed her on the lips.
With tears streaming down his cheeks, their foreheads touching, he choked on his "speech"
"Thank you....thank you! You have really become my inspiration in everything that I do and I am really honoured to have met you on that day in July. I love you.....I love you.....forever...."
"Surprise!" Maine said as she smiled, through her own tears, happy tears. "I love you!" she said as she leaned in for another kiss.
"You didn't have to do this...."
"I know...."
"....yes, this is a night I will never forget...."
"....tara na!..." Maine said as she started to walk back inside.
"Huh? Saan?" Richard followed her, confused.
"....diba sabi mo ikaw ang alon na babalik sa akin?......the shore is waiting...."
