Sakura realized something. She didn't even know her roommate anymore.

Although they used to be friends (for about three years), she still didn't know anything about Sayuri now.

It was proved when Sayuri walked out of that bathroom, looking like death was on its way to her doorstep. And it was proved again when Sayuri signed I'm fine in response to the several times Sakura asked her if she was okay.

It was proved countless times. Sakura definitely didn't know the short haired, scrawny, underweight mute girl before her.

I want to know more, it echoed through her mind for the umpteenth time. I want to know why she has changed. I want to know why she cut her hair, why she doesn't speak anymore, why she is so...

Different?

Sakura felt drawn towards Sayuri. It was as if the two were magnets--after all, opposites do attract. Sakura was outspoken, brave, outrageous, athletic, risky, and self-confident. Sayuri was silent (of course she was, she's mute), skinny, shy, and was cautious all the time, like a giraffe.

Once she would lie down, people would take advantage of her. She would be vulnerable.

And the thing that made the biggest difference between the two: Sayuri didn't believe in herself. She lacked courage, she lacked strength.

Sakura felt the need to protect the girl. She felt the need to help her.

But there was something in her way. Sakura could see it in the girl's hazel eyes.

Pain.

[Why did you leave me, Sakura?
Why did you abandon me, like what everyone else did--

Like what Kakashi did?]
