"If you keep reading that book, you're gonna be late to class," someone called to Hunter. Hunter Dreydence was a tall, seventeen year old high-schooler with short black and blue eyes.
"Oh shut up, Luke." Hunter said, chuckling. Luke Alvastien was as tall as Hunter, and as old, but Luke had light pink hair, and brown eyes. Luke was also a part of the Springdale basketball team.
"I'm serious. Don't want trouble now do ya?" Luke asked, and Hunter chuckled.
"Nah. Let's go." Hunter said, and started walking.
"Wait up!" a female voice called, and Hunter stopped and turned around to see Sophie. Sophie Arksten was up to Hunter's chin in height, but was also his age. She had long blonde hair and green eyes. Hunter and Sophie have been dating since Junior year.
"You're late again, Blondie." Luke said and Sophie stuck her tongue out at him.
"Hey Sophie." Hunter said and she gave him a smile.
"At least someone, says hi," she said and they all started walking again.
"Yeah, whatever," Luke replies, chuckling quietly. Sophie and Luke looked at Hunter, who was oddly quiet.
"Hunter?" Sophie asked quietly.
"Hmm?" Hunter asked, looking at her.
"You okay?" she asked.
"Yeah I'm fine, it's just my dad texted me," he replied.
"Oh. Then why do you look so confused?" she asked.
"Because he wants to talk to all of us," he said, now heading to the main office.
"Why would your dad want to talk to all of us?" Luke asked.
"Beats me. Let's just go see what he wants." Hunter said, reaching the main office.
"Hi, Mrs. Kanta. Uh, my father texted me to go home," Hunter told the Secretary.
"Is it okay if I see the text?" she asked, and Hunter took his phone out and showed her.
"Okay, you're good to go. Have a nice day!" she said and Hunter, Sophie and Luke all headed into the lobby when they were stopped by the captain of the football team, Joshua Bernsten. Josh had blonde hair, and brown eyes, and was rather built.
"Where do you geeks think you're going?" Josh asked, and Hunter sighed.
"Home, Josh, now get out of my way." Hunter said, and Josh laughed.
"Or what? You'll beat me up?" Josh replied and Hunter, Luke and Sophie walked around him, and Josh pulled Hunter back roughly.
"You aren't going anywhere. I'm not do-" he said but was interrupted by Hunter pushing him off.
"Back off Josh." Hunter said, and started walking away and Luke and Sophie followed.
"You'll pay for that, Hunter." Josh said.
"Looking forward to it, dick face." Hunter said and left the school, heading towards his house.
"That guy's a dick." Luke said.
"I agree." Sophie said.
"When are you gonna pound him Hunter?" Luke asked.
"When he throws the first punch." Hunter replied, and they walked the rest of the way in silence. When they got to Hunter's house, Hunter opened the door for them.
"Thank you." Sophie said and went in. Luke followed behind her and nodded in her direction, looking at Hunter.
'Score one for you bro,' Luke mouthed to Hunter and Hunter lightly punched Luke in the arm, following them in and closing the door. Hunter hung his bag up, and Luke and Sophie did also. The three then went into the living room and a black wolf stood in the middle of the room.
"Woah. That's not normal." Luke said and Hunter nodded.
"Don't worry, Gordan won't hurt you guys, will you?" a man said, standing next to Gordan. This man had short white hair, blue eyes, was wearing glasses, and a long sleeve black shirt with jeans on.
"Yeah because a wolf won't eat people, dad." Hunter said.
"John, is it at least house trained? He won't pee on me?" Luke asked.
"Nah, Gordan won't do that." John said. "Anyway, I wanted you three here for a reason," he added.
"And that would be?" Hunter asked, and John sighed.
"I've been keeping, a lot of truths from you guys." John said.
"What kind of truths?" Hunter asked.
"Hunter, your mom isn't really dead. She's Nox, the goddess of shadows." John said.
"No, no no way. Gods and Goddesses aren't real." Hunter says, and John smiled and held his hand out, palm up, and a flame engulfed his hand.
"Woah. This is a prank right?" Hunter asked.
"It's very real, Son of Nox." Gordan said, and Luke, Sophie and Hunter looked at him.
"The wolf can talk." Hunter said, nodding. "Great." Hunter added.
"Do not fret, Hunter. I'm here merely just to guard you and your father. And your friends, if they are with you. It's what I do." Gordan said.
"Sounds legit, but, exactly why are you telling us now?" Sophie asked John.
"Because I fear you three and the rest of your friends are in danger." John replied.
"In danger of what?" Hunter asked, and all of a sudden, Gordan started growling.
"He's here." Gordan said.
