"Your father is back." Was the message my mom had sent me.
I quickly make my way to my house, my knees weak, pressure building up in my shoulders, weighing me down, making it difficult to walk.
I swallow hard as I watch the small snowflakes trickle down from the sky.
Why was he back?
Flashbacks of my father slapping my mum across the face had started to play over and over in my head. I closed my eyes tight, trying to get rid of the image of my mother's tear stained face, but it wouldn't go away.
Over and over, he would keep slapping her. Images of Gray's body in the road started to appear as well, and I could feel my palms begin to sweat. My dad shoving Gray at dinner, him screaming at my mum constantly for every little slip up she did, and him and I always getting into fights over it.
I started to grow angry, kicking chunks of ice out of my way aggressively, grinding my teeth together rather violently.
"Hurt her one more time," I begin to say under my breath as more flashbacks hit me. "hurt her one more time!" I repeat louder.
"LEAVE HER ALONE!" I scream at the top of my lungs as I start to sprint towards my house, my converse almost loosing their grip on the iced pavement, causing me to almost slip. But I didn't care. I have to make it before he tries to do anything.
I quickly hop onto the porch and swing open the door to find my dad sitting back on the couch with his feet kicked up on the glass coffee table, and my mum sitting on the couch as well trying to stay as far away as possible from my dad.
"What the hell are you doing here, Mitch?" I ask through gritted teeth.
"Ah, there he is!" my dad stands up smiling as he walks over to me. "Oh my god you've gotten so big!" he puts a hand on my shoulder but I quickly smack it off harshly.
"Don't touch me you prick." I spit at him.
My dad stares at me, a little suprised.
"Woah, okay Dan," he laughs it off quickly. "no need to use that use of strong language-"
"I asked a question and I expect you to answer it." I snap again, staring staright into his dark brown eyes. I resemble my father so much and it makes me sick. The dark brown hair, pale skin, dimples, dark chocolate brown eyes. I wish I didn't.
My dad stands silent for a minute before looking back at me.
"I came to visit because I care about you both." he smiles and looks over at my mum.
"Is that why you left us for five whole years?"
"I was on a business trip-"
"Bullshit. For five years? Yeah. I bet." I roll my eyes.
"My work is very serious, Daniel-"
"DON'T call me that." I hiss.
My dad holds his hands up in defense and backs up a little.
"My bad, my bad," he chuckles. "but, Dan...I came here as well to talk to you about something." his face grows serious.
Continuing to stare at him, I wait for what he's going to say.
"So I came here as well to ask you if...you would like to come live with me? It would be really fun I think," he looks around and his smile fades. "it's alot cleaner at my house..." he looks back up at me.
