she's sitting on her bed,
the pages of hemmingway
in front of her and her hair
knotted on top of her head.
her makeup has been cleaned off
and she's wearing his old hoodie.
that's when she hears
that beep.
she looks up quickly,
squinting at the computer screen
just enough to see the little ball on the screen
spinning.
she gets up slowly, leaving the book behind
and walking to the computer
just when his face appears on screen.
she sits down, doing a bad job at
hiding her anger.
"ah!" he screams, shielding his eyes.
"it's been too long, you're beauty- it's
blinding me! someone help!"
she gives him a flat look
and crosses her arms.
"you've been avoiding me."
he sighs, dropping his head in
his hands and rubbing his forehead.
"i'm sorry. it's just...i don't know
how to deal with missing you."
he looks up then, his eyes piercing into
hers as if he's in the room
instead of on a computer screen.
"me either."
