her hands were shaking,

the line moving too slow for her liking.

her cheeks were terribly sore

from smiling the entire flight and

her stomach was swirling, a longing

so strong she nearly pushed over

the elderly man in front of her.

finally, she reached the terminal,

her heart hammering and her

breathing unable to be steadied.

she scanned the overflowing room,

her wide eyes searching urgently.

and then,

she saw him.

across the way there he stood,

daisies and peanut butter in his hands.

she froze, her lungs unable to fill with air.

they stared at each other for a moment,

a single heartbeat of disbelief and joy

all wrapped into one,

before she dropped her bags and ran,

sprinting through the crowd and laughing

through her tears.

it was him.

he was here.
