they didn't go visit their
parents yet, both too shocked
to do anything but make sure
the other was by their side.
instead, oliver drove out to the
empty field across town
and they laid in the bed of his truck.
thinking about life and
scooping peanut butter out
with their fingers.
by then the sun was low,
cascading over them
in a warm glow. she missed the
snow, but couldn't say it,
because she had missed ollie so
much more.
he rolled over on his side then
and she followed suit,
looking into his deep eyes
as they grinned at her.
he reached up,
running a finger lightly along
the side of her jaw and over her lips,
concentration written all over his face.
no words were said,
because none were needed.
they were together.
they were together.
"finally," sue whispered and
oliver gasped, so quietly she almost didn't hear,
and then he moved closer and
kissed her yet again, so urgently
sue wasn't sure her breathing would
ever go back to normal.
"that was the best kiss ever," sue breathed,
as he released her.
"why?" he smirked.
"because you tasted like peanut butter."
"yeah right."
