they stood there for a while,
his arms tightly around her
and hers clutching to the material
of his shirt.
he was crying, sometimes hard and
sometimes softly, lifting her head
to kiss her every once in a while
and making sure she was real.
her tears had dried,
her heart palpitating with too much joy
for her to do anything but smile.
"I love you," she whispered,
and he reached down and kissed her
lightly again, his hands trembling.
"I love you so much. I can't believe
you're here, I've missed you, sue,
I've never missed anything so bad."
she didn't have to speak,
because every word he said,
was every word she felt.
and finally, she picked up the daisies
and peanut butter and smiled at him,
grabbing his hand as he grabbed her
bags and led her to his truck.
"I love you."
"you said that."
"well, I can stop if you'd like."
"no, no, keep going."
they smiled.
"I love you."
