Chapter 17

I ran through the forest, looking for whoever was calling out my name. Jenny! I heard it closer and closer. I pushed branches aside and ran as fast as I could, scared that the person who needed me was in danger. Finally, I came out of the forest. There was a a big meadow with blue flowers all around. I walked cautiously through the meadow. In the distance I could still hear my name being called. At the end there was a slight cliff and on the edge of it I finally saw who was calling my name. Except it wasn't just one person.. Luke and Zac... 

I woke up with a jolt. I looked at the clock and it read 4:00 AM. I sighed ans ran my fingers through my hair. I kept having the same dream every night for the past week. Luke and Zac were standing at the edge of a cliff, calling my name. As I stepped closer, I realized that I had to save one of them because it was impossible to save both. But the dream never got to the end and I never ended up choosing because I would wake up right before. I laid back down and took another deep breathe. 

Graduation was next week and this dream had me extremely stressed out. What did it mean? Why was it always between Luke and Zac? And why did I never know who I chose? After I met with Luke at the park a couple of months ago, we would hang out every now and then. It was fun, I missed how it used to be with us. But me and Zac were still together and I was still very much in love with him. We were about to make a year together this weekend. Things with him were absolutely perfect. Of course, Zac and I argued all the time but it never lasted more than a couple of hours. 

We were going to the same college because we both got the best scholarship there. We talked about the future thousands of times, and though of course nothing was official, we decided that we would move in together when we moved up north. Our parents supported us because they trusted us enough to know we wouldn't rush into anything we didn't think we were ready for. Zac's parents owned an apartment in Boston,so they told us we were welcome to stay there. Of course, we  were both getting jobs but it was extremely generous for them to help us out like that. 

I looked at the clock again, 4:30, I needed to go back to bed. The next time I woke up, it was my alarm that woke me at 6. I brushed my teeth, took a shower, put on clothes and put on a bit of make up. My brown hair was cascaded down my back in its natural waves. It was Friday, which meant our weekly group hangouts. After we all became friends, we made a habit of all hanging out on Friday nights. If the group couldn't, then me and Zac would spend the day together. 

I grabbed a bar and made my way to my car. By the time I got to school, it was 7. Classes started at 7:20. So I walked up to where my group usually hangs out, under this huge oak tree. Angela, Mary, Diana, Luke and Garret were all standing around the tree. 

"Hey guys."

"Hey Jenny, we were just talking about today's plans." I went to give a kiss to all of my friends and then turned to Garret who had answered me.

"Right, so what did you guys have in mind?" My phone beeped, I checked it and it was a message from Zac.

Running late. See you in 1st period. Love you Xx -Z

I answered him and realized I totally missed what they had answered me.

"I'm so sorry, repeat that. "

"We said that we think we might have to cancel today."

"Woah wait , why?"

"Because I have to babysit my little sister. Angela is going out of town today, Mary has to go stay with her dad at the hospital, Diana isn't even here today. Luke is the only one that is free and then I'm assuming you and Zac."
