Hey Oncers, I haven't written in a while. I had a mental block as well as going through life...well, you know... It's been many years now and no amount of apologies and explanation will suffice, so I'll just put this out here and I hope to not disappoint you guys. I've got a few more chapters in a works and this time, it will be out promptly. I hope you guys continue reading and let the story unfold. There's so much happening and so many ties to connect together. I'm just excited that I'm going back to writing. I had forgotten how much I love it and I miss you all!

Miss Swan, may I please have a word?

Emma's heart began to race, pounding loudly in her chest as she braced herself for what might come next. Regina continued with her work, but as Emma moved toward her desk, the brunette removed her glasses and looked up, catching sight of Emma's furrowed brows.

"I don't know what happened to you in class today," Regina began, her voice slicing through the silence. "You seemed preoccupied. Do you not want to pass this class?"

"I-I..." Emma stammered, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm sorry for falling asleep. I just couldn't sleep well last night after we parted ways."

Regina's tone shifted, becoming more serious. "Look, I wanted to talk to you about this. What happened between us last night was just a fleeting moment. A way to release pent-up desire. It was all for fun and nothing more." She looked directly at the blonde, whose eyebrows remained furrowed. "Do I make myself clear?"

Why the sudden coldness again? Emma's thoughts spiraled in confusion. Was Regina playing games with me all this time? I've never met anyone so loving one moment and so distant the next.

"Why, Regina?" Emma's face contorted with a confused expression. "Why do you keep doing this to me?" She found a profound feeling deep inside her, finally giving her the courage to demand an explanation for the moodiness she couldn't understand from Regina.

"Keep doing what?" Regina asked, feigning ignorance.

"You know what I mean." Emma's frustration was evident, her voice rising as she struggled to make sense of this melodrama. "You're into me one day and so cold the next." Tears started welling up in Emma's eyes. "What have I done to deserve this kind of treatment?"

Regina took a moment, drawing a deep breath and sighing. "It's not you...it's me—"

"Oh, don't give me that bullshit excuse," Emma cut her off, her voice trembling with emotion. "You know I accept you for who you are. Your past doesn't matter to me."

Regina's eyebrows furrowed, feeling a sudden vulnerability in what Emma had said. She had never had anyone accept her fully, except for Daniel, but he was gone. Now, Emma was here for her. This should have been the answer Regina was looking for, but through all her pain, suffering, and the lessons she had to learn, she was still afraid and would rather settle for what seemed like the easier choice. She looked up at the blonde, whose unwavering gaze demanded something, anything.

"I'm getting married, Emma," Regina finally confessed, her voice barely above a whisper. "And it's with your father. Things will get complicated."

Emma was in utter disbelief. Shocked didn't even begin to cover what she was feeling. "What the fuck do you mean, complicated? It's already been complicated and it's only going to get harder." She couldn't hold back the flood of emotions rising within her. Her eyes never left Regina's, who couldn't look away either but remained silent. "Can you honestly say that whatever we have isn't worth it?"

The silence was deafening. Only the faint sounds of doors opening and closing in the distance broke the stillness.

"Tell me!" Emma demanded, her voice breaking.
