7:13 A.M. Max's Car

I had to choose between staying home forever or going to school and live a secluded life when I woke up. The decision was hard but surprisingly, I decided to go ahead and face the drama. After all that has happened to me at Colorado High, I felt as if I was somewhat immune to all the trauma that follows. Like always, Max drove me to school. We were in his car with the silence that filled it everyday.

"So," Max broke the silence. I immediately faced him; it felt as if this was the first time we might actually have a car ride with conversation.

He continued. "About yesterday, who were those guys you were with at the restaurant?" Wasn't the question I was expecting, but it was something.

"They were Eddie and James, seniors I know," I responded nonchalantly. I realized my mistake in responding without care. After I met Max on the side of the road, sadly, I directed him to the apartments that were my home and now his as well. I helped him move in all of his items and decided to confide in him after opening my big mouth. I told him about the problems Eddie has caused, and minor details of Jame's attitude. I told him everything, the touch, the kiss, and the effects eah event had on me. He never knew what they looked like, but thanks to me he does now.

Before he could respond with an obvious question, I interrupted him. "I can explain," I began. "Everything has changed between us ever since our last conflict."

"Alright," Max blinked. "Explain how."

I told Max everything that has happened up to this point; even the problem at the library, my new book, and when James and I kissed. I wanted to make sure I didn't miss a single detail. Max and Seamus were the same, they never judged me and they were good listeners. Now that Seamus is gone, Max is my only option now. Everything just came out all at once, even the moments I tried to restrain from telling. I was glad I had someone else to talk to about this.

"Wow," Max responded as I finished. "Your life is full of nothing but problems."

I scoffed. "Thanks for reminding me."

He laughed. "If they are nice enough to treat you to a meal, then it's obvious that you should be friends with the seniors now."

I sighed, "That was pretty much my only choice, but it will only build more distance between Kevin and the others."

"I'm not really an expert on these sorts of things, so that's pretty much the only help I can provide."

I nodded. "At least you listened. That's good enough Max."

"Also," he continued, "How are you going to take care of your two love interest?"

I blushed. "What do you mean by two love interest?"

"I mean, if James and Eddie both like you, then wouldn't that only cause a problem in the future," he explained.

I shook my head. "James said that our kiss was an accident, he didn't mean it."

Max laughed with a doubtful smirk. "He would have never kissed you if he didn't mean it. He kissed you in a place where it was only him and you isolated together. That was his opportunity. If he didn't mean it, he would have never went for it, he would have never tried to make it seem like some sort of clandestine meeting. I think he's pretty much like you."

"Like me?" I echoed.

Max nodded. "At first, when Steven and yourself kissed, you both denied it, right?"

I nodded.

"Okay," he continued. "As you denied it, your feelings for each other began to build. Then you also denied your feelings for Eddie, only making you feel conflicted over both of them at the same time.  Eddie knew he liked you, only making it easy for him to have the last word in everything. Now, you are only confused, but now the cycle is repeating with a third member, James. You have to let your affection take over at least once so you could get a better image of the choices you are making."
