Work was, how do you say, extremely, amazingly boring for Marquis De Lafayette. They absolutely hated the career they chose, but it did have its upsides. Lafayette had been hired into the White House shortly after George Washington became the new president of 2017. They were hired to help with foriegn affairs, and at the time, Lafayette had thought it would be fun, interesting even.

They were very, very wrong. Not only did their job circle mostly around stopping war, it was trying to get their coworkers to respect them. Lafayette didn't have a problem with the friends they had in their job: Alexander, John, and Hercules.

It was the others, the democratic republicans, that didn't take Lafayette seriously. Especially Thomas Jefferson, that man was in love with France, but hated Lafayette themselves. They weren't sure if it was because they were no binary, or if Thomas wanted their position.

Lafayette sat their stapler down, having just created a new picture on their cubical wall with the staples. They had attempted to make a French flag, but the lines were crooked. A ding sounded out, making Lafayette jump slightly. They turned, looking for the source of the ding. They saw they had one unread email, and smiled. "Now, Qui m'enverrait un courriel?" They asked themselves, opening it. To their surprise, across the screen read: one new email from : George Washington

Lafayette giggled like a little girl, then blushed, looking around to make sure no one had heard or seen them do it. They looked back down on the email, then to their phone which lay on the opposite side of the desk. They clicked the home button, the front screen showing a lovely picture of them and their boyfriend, yes boyfriend. Lafayette was sitting on his lap, and George had his arms around Lafayette's waist. If Lafayette was right, it had in fact been Alexander who took the photo. They had all gone to Yosemite for a little vacation after George and Lafayette finally got together. The Schuyler sister, Peggy, who was Hercules' girlfriend at the time,  came as well.

What a wonderful girl. And picture. And day. Lafayette had thought, looking back to the email and clicking it open.  They had dimolished their hopes that the email wasn't something about work. Lafayette really didn't want to deal with another meeting of Hamiltin yelling at Jefferson at the top of his lungs, while everyone else sat uncomfortably, until Washington intervened. Lafayette didn't understand how those two kept going, they were non-stop, always fighting. It was, incredible!

Lafayette was surprised, however, when they opened it to find  a picture of a baby panda. They had to admit, the baby was rather cute, and they couldn't help the little awww that escaped upon seeing the email. Lafayette saved it, and replied:

To: George Washington

From: Marquis De Lafayette

Subject: adorable

I squealed in my office, mon amour! Je vous remercie <3

Lafayette got out of their email as a coworker walked past, silently hoping that they hadn't seen the email. Lafayette and George  would be in so much trouble if anyone found out they were dating.  They quickly opened Microsoft Word and tried to look like they were doing work at least. Lafayette tried, and tried for what seemed like hours but was only a few minutes, to  try and complete a task that had been assigned to them earlier in the week, to address and edit a paper written by Alexander Hamilton himself, about immigrants and how we should try to protect the U.S. from terrosits. Who to trust, and who not to and what not.

Honestly it was like the treasury department wanted Lafayette to suffer. They weren't even on the third page yet. It was as if Hamilton wrote in one big paragraph.  Lafayette only understood some of it, being rough on English still, so it took them some time to finish a page or so. Alexander had apologized after figuring out Lafayette was the one looking over his papers, and even George had apologized, because he knew Hamilton didn't know how to get to the point. Lafayette, being the ever forgiving person, hadn't even been mad at the two men to begin with. Although, the way George made up for it... let's just say Lafayette wasn't complaining.
