We won! (Ham-burr)

Aaron Burr always wore a thick coat, a button up over shirt, and an under shirt along with dark pants and his work shoes. Why, you may ask? Because it was nearing winter in New York City and he hated the cold.

Aaron sighed, pulling his winter hat down further, and his scarf further up on his nose. He was walking back to his car, which was parked at the very far back of the store parking lot. It has begun to snow while he was inside, and he called bullshit. The weather just WANTED him to get sick.

Once at his car, struggling, Burr pulled his keys from his pocket and opened the back trunk of his car. He was so making Alexander get this out of the car when he got home. Burr jumped in his car, starting it and not pulling away until hot hair began to defrost his numb hands. He should've taken the gloves offered to him by Alexander before leaving, but he wasn't about to let Hamilton know that. He took his hat off, and tucked it on his dash board, pulling out of the parking lot.

The drive home wasn't far, and before Aaron knew it he was sitting in front of his apartment building. He took out his phone, and then after a minute decided not to. He actually could use the work out. Alexander probably wouldn't leave whatever he was working on anyway.

Burr let the heat warm him a little longer, before shutting his car off and climbing out. He walked to the trunk, got out the box of Christmas stuff, and began making his way inside. He walked threw the lobby, and thanked God the elevator wasn't out. He climbed in, and set the box down in front of his feet. He stretched his back, and it poped a bit. With a sigh, he pressed his floor and waited.

When the elevator stopped with a ding on floor 5, Aaron stepped out and walked down, humming Christmas music to himself.  This was only Alexander's second Christmas in America, and since he hadn't been there for the first one, Aaron wanted to make it extra special. He took his key out upon coming to the door of their room, and opened the door, expecting loud music or typing to immediately meet his ears. He was met with neither, however, and to his surprise he heard soft signing.

"Silent night... holy night.."

Burr moved further into the apartment, quietly setting his box down on the counter in the kitchen. He walked into the living room, looking for the source of the singing. Not finding it in the living room, he continued to the few rooms in the apartment.

"All is warm, all is bright..."

Burr knew it obviously wasn't coming from the bathroom, so he continued on and peeked into the guest room, just in case they had a surprise visitor. He had already crossed out Alexander being the singer. Everything Burr had ever heard him sing was loud, pumped up music. The man was non-stop and the music he listened to supported that fact.

"Round young virgin mother and child..."

Burr had to admit, the voice was angelic. Could it be his Alexander? There was no one in the guest room, so he slowly crept to their shared room. He pressed his hands to the door softly, leaning an ear against it.

"Holy infant so tender and mild..."

So it was Alexander. Was he just singing this to himself? Aaron was about to open the door when he heard another voice.

"Daddy, what does that mean?"

"What, love?"

"You called an infant tender like it was a-"

"Chicken nugget" both the voices chuckled.

Burr tried to recognized the younger voice, was that Philip? Burr began to get hopeful at having the toddler living with them. He hadn't spent a Christmas with Theodosia in a long time... her mother had made it clear she didn't want Aaron to ever see his daughter, but court wouldn't allow him to never see her. So he got weekends, and a couple holidays. Unfortunately,  Christmas was not one of those holidays.

Burr missed her deeply, but the thought of having Alexander's little one here, made his heart swell up. Alexander had started singing again by the time Burr started focusing on the moment at hand. He pulled his phone out, and started recording. Might as well start making Christmas memories now for Philip.

"Sleep in heavenly peace..."

Burr slowly, quietly, opened the door and crept in. He made his way behind Alexander, catching the next few choruses on tape without either of the two noticing. Burr smiled, standing next to Alexander and looking down at him.

"Sleep in heavenly peace.." burr sang, placing his hand on Alexander's shoulder. Philip jumped up from the bed he was laying on, surprised and smiling widely. Alexander turned to Aaron, his smile matching Philip's.

"You're home!" They both cried, tackling Aaron into a hug. He chuckled, falling back slightly. Alexander pulled off Burr after awhile, but Ohilip had attached himself firmly to Aaron's side. Alexander chuckled. "Christmas can begin!" He cried, grabbing Burr's hand and rushing out.

As they made their way into the living room, Burr noticed the tree sitting in the far corner. "Did you two go and get that?" He asked, grabbing Alexander by the elbow before the man could reach the box of goodies. Philip dashed to it and dug threw the box. "We decided you shouldn't have to do everything, and I figured Philip should have to get a tree on one of his first day with his dads, just so he's prepared for next Christmas." Alexander's small smile grew wider and wider as the sentence came to an end.

Aaron couldn't  believe it. Did... did Hamilton just say what he thought he said? "Are... are you saying...?" He almost couldn't finish the sentence. "I won the case!" Alexander shrieked. Aaron laughed, smiling widely. He picked up the smaller man, swinging him around in a circle, Alexander's bell-like laugh.

Aaron sat him down, and Alexander hugged him tightly. Philip cheered from the chair, running over and jumping into their arms. "Daddy won!"  Philip cheered, then got silent for a minute.

"What does that mean?" He asked a moment later. Aaron smiled widely, picking Philip up by the arm pits and tossing him up in the air, catching him and laughing "you're goanna be livin' with us now, Philip!" Aaron placed Philip on his hip, and pulled Alexander to him. Philip smiled wider. "Really!?" He asked. Alexander nodded, kissing Philip's forehead. "Yes, Philip."
