It was early in the morning, Thomas and James were getting ready for school. James trying to find his medicine, and Thomas taking a shower. Madison had searched the cabinets and ransacked the drawers. He groaned, frustrated and decided to go check his room again. With no avail, he knocked on the bathroom door. Thomas didn't answer, and Madison some how forgot to care. He opened the door, ducking in and quickly shutting the door to make sure Thomas wouldn't get hit with cold air.
The water was still running, and Thomas didn't seem to notice. If he did, then he wasn't saying anything. Madison could faintly see Thomas's shadow from the lighting in the bathroom, and blushed brightly after catching himself staring as his roommate took a shower. James bent down, and started going threw the shelves of the medicine cabinet. Alieve, not strong enough. James searched for a while more, sighing to himself. His headache was getting worse, and he felt like vomiting now. He stopped, leaning against the sink and swooning. He sighed, straightening up and continuing to look threw the medicine cabinet.
Thomas had heard the door open, and he didn't address it because he knew that James was sicker than sick. And when James was sick, Thomas didn't yell, or get mad or even make sarcastic comments. He was nothing but polite and considerate. His mother mode would turn on, and Thomas would cook and clean and help James with medicine. The only reason Thomas didn't have James in the shower with him, just to make sure he bathed regularly, was because James had insisted Thomas have some time by himself.
James had said Thomas was babying him too much, and to simply take 15-20 minutes to chill in the shower by himself. So Thomas just assumed James needed more tissues or something and had gotten up to get them. Thomas had decided standing in the shower listening to James rustle around in the medicine cabinet was weird enough, and decided on washing his hair again. He picked up the bottle of cocoanut curls and squirted the pleasant smelling liquid into his palm before rubbing his hands together, and lobbing up his hair again. He just sat there for the longest time, lathering his hair again and again, only adding to the soap. He thought about a lot. He faintly heard the sound of the door closing, or he thought he did, so he just rinsed out his hair and continued to think.
Thomas thought about a lot. He thought about the fight he had recently with Hamilton, and how afterwards Madison had simply just dragged him home. He was surprisingly strong when he wanted to be, that Madison. James was sick constantly, but he had the muscles when it mattered. His poor little epilepsy filled Madison. Wait wait, his!? Since when had Madison became his!?
Thomas shook away the thought, cleaning the rest of himself. Despite the fact that he desperately wanted to remove James from his mind, he couldn't. He thought of the way he liked to part his hair and the adorable sweaters he wears all the time. James was so small, so fragile. He was almost 100 lbs and as much as Thomas didn't like to admit it, he loved every ounce of his roommate. Thomas decided he'd left James alone, sick, long enough and turned off the water, shaking his head like a dog before stepping out to grab a towel.
James heard the water shut off, and jumped to his feet, trying desperately in his now dizzy state. He went to open the door, but it didn't budge. James tried it again, pulling and twisting and he just couldn't get it. He heard the whipping sound of Thomas shaking his hair out, then the shower curtain being moved back. James heard a mutter behind him, and slowly, ever so slowly turned around, face bright red. He kept his eyes trained to Thomas's feet as he mumbled "h-hi Thomas..."
Thomas hadn't noticed James standing there until he squeaked out a hello. Thomas's head jerked up as he halfway wrapped a towel around a waist. "J-James!" He shrieked, stumbling backwards and falling into the rim of the tub. His face lit up like a Christmas tree, and he covered his face. Not only had his roommate seen him naked, oh no, his roommate had seenThomas stumble and fall into the bathtub. And not only had his roommate seen him like this, Thomas had the biggest crush on said roommate.
James, startled by the fall, rushed over to a Thomas and leaned over the man's knees. His face was just as red as Thomas's, who was staring up at James. "A-are you ok?" James asked, holding a hand out slowly. He sneezed, flinching slightly then looked looked down at Thomas once again with a small smile. Over the years, over the many many sleepless nights the other had endured for him, all the days spent away from school with constant check ups, the four am hospital visits.....James had developed feelings for Thomas. No one had ever cared as much to help him, no one ever took notice. James would normally rough out his colds. Go to school, work through it. But with Thomas, with Thomas James didn't have to be super strong all the time. He was a small man, he knew that, and it was often very very hard to make it threw the day. With Thomas, it was ten times easier.
Thomas tenitavley took the hand, and pushed himself up to help make James feel stronger. James smiled, looking at his roommate. The way water droplets trickled down his chest and the way that his abs looked when-
Oh god, James Stop!
He shouldn't be thinking like that. That's incredulous. He looked back to their feet. Thomas realised right away that they didn't release hands immediatley. Thomas didn't mind. Now must've been as good a time as ever, right?
Thomas took a deep breath, steadying his hand in James's before lifting his other hand to make him look at him. James's dark eyes stared into Thomas's own, sending a shiver down his spine and butterflies in his stomach. "j-james.." he mumbled.
"T-Thomas.." the other replied.
Thomas was going to do it. He was ready, he was going to do it-
Nope nope nope nope nope. "e-excuse me..!" he said, reaching behind James, causing James to be dangerously close to his chest, and opened the stuck door. "I'll get dressed and then I'll make us lunch" thomas said quickly, running to vis room and shutting the door. James didn't know what to think.
He wandered down the hall slowly to Thomas's room, and watched the door carefully. He could hear a frantic Thomas on the other side. he didn't like frantic Thomas. James carefully knocked, and earned no answer. so he knocked again. and again, until Thomas shouted "come in!"
He slowly opened the door, and peeked in at Thomas, who was now wearing sweatpants and a crop tip that read Slay in big purple letters. His wet hair was now french braided on top of his head and his face was still red as a tomato.
"I-I think we need to have a very s-serious conversation, Tho- Thah- Thashit!!" James sneezed, bringing his elbow to his nose to block the germs. He knew how much of a germophobe Thomas could be. he didn't want to stress the man anymore than his sickness already did. Or who knows, James might come home to find gallons of hand sanitizer in Thomas's room. Thomas smiled softly, chuckling at how the sneeze interrupted him. "James, I've felt this way for awhile now, and I think it's horribly wrong to keep it from you" Thomas said, carefully taking James' other hand, holding it and kissing the top.
"James Madison, I think I have the biggest crush on you," He chuckled, "and I'm not sure if i love you or I'm obsessed with you but you corrupt my thoughts and consume my every waking minute and I wouldn't dare change it. You're amazing and a true miracle and I just want to rap you up in my arms and never let go. And I change my claim from before, James Madison, I love you!"
James watched him the entire time with wide eyes, and now they began to gloss over. James hugged Thomas tightly, smiling like an idiot. "Finally." He croaked, his voice raspy.
