Later on that night, after the workers and William left, the animatronics were freed from their stone-still state. Foxy pulled the curtain back with his hook, and glanced around. Everything was dark except the small lights glowing from the animatronic's eyes.
"Guys?" Foxy asked the others on the stage. "Are ye awake?"
"Yeah, we are." Bonnie said.
"Ready to check the back room?" Mangle asked. Foxy jumped. She was right behind him, and was peering out the curtains, her golden eyes surveying the room.
There was a small thump as Foxy jumped off the stage. He headed to the back room with the others following.
Foxy rested his hand on the door knob. "Ready?" Ha asked the others. They all nodded, and Foxy opened the door.
"Golden Freddy?" Bonnie asked, stepping into the dark room.
"Are you here?" Chica asked. She was clinging to Freddy's arm, and seemed both terrified and excited.
"Yes, I am." Golden Freddy's voice echoed. They peered into the darkness and saw two shapes, both limp. Suddenly, one stood up and walked over.
Golden Freddy stepped out of the room. "What do you want?" He asked, his usual grumpiness showing.
"We want to see what they brought into the room today!" Mangle said.
"We're just curious!" Chica said.
Everyone was silent for a minute. Golden Freddy sighed in defeat. "Fine." He said, stepping aside. "Go on ahead."
They stepped into the dark room toward the limp shape. Chica knelt down beside it, and examined it. "Well?" Bonnie asked impatiently.
"It is an empty suit, as far as I can tell." Chica said. "But there is something inside here..." She reached into the costume ans rummaged around. A loud SNAP was heard, and Chica screeched. She tried to pull her arm out, but it was stuck. More snaps sounded, and the costume writhed violently.
"Here, let me help." Freddy said. He reached inside the costume as well, and undid whatever held Chica's hand/wing/paw. It was metal, and when Freddy tapped a certain part, it snapped shut. "I used to find these scattered around, near the office." Freddy said. "I think, maybe he brought them here."
Foxy examined the piece of metal. "What do you think it is?" He asked.
Golden Freddy took the metal contraption from Foxy. "I think William used to call it... a spring lock."
"A... spring lock?" Foxy echoed curiously.
"Do you know what it does?" Mangle asked Golden Freddy.
"I think it holds back the animatronic parts in this suit, so that it can be worn as a costume. But, as Chica unfortunately found out, it is very fragile, and it can easily come loose. Don't touch it, don't let it get wet, and don't breathe on it. Basically it is a death trap." Golden Freddy said, returning the spring lock back to the inside of the suit. "I don't understand why anyone would take the risk of wearing this." he mutterd to himself.
Just then, a clock rang. The animatronics looked at one another in confusion, then their programming forced them to return to their spots on the stages.
"Six AM." Foxy whispered to himself. "We are free until that cursed clock rings."
The front doors opened, and someone walked in. "Then..." He continued. "IT'S SHOWTIME!!!"
