Foxy opened his eyes and glanced around. His surroundings were completely dark, and it was dead silent. He took a few steps forward, then spun in a slow circle to try and make out his location. He took a few more steps in a random direction, then heard rustling to the side. He jumped back and peered through the shadows. trying desperately to make out what made the sound.
Maybe it was just my imagination, Foxy thought. Maybe I'm just going insane. He turned and started walking again, when something grabbed him from behind. His mouth was immediately covered and his arms were held behind his back. Foxy kicked out with his legs, but they just passed through empty air. "Hush!" An unfamiliar voice hissed in his ear. "Unless you want it to find you!"
Foxy pushed away from whatever was grabbing him immediately was turned around and ready to attack. He peered through the dark but still saw nobody nearby. "Who are you? And what do you mean, it?"
Foxy heard a sigh form nearby. "Before ending up here, you had a bit of...a second half, didn't you? A mysterious being with the ability to make you invincible, but at the cost of your own sanity?"
Foxy narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "How do you know?" He asked hesitantly.
There was a brief moment of silence. "I...I went through what you did. He...Er...it took everything I loved away from me. I had nothing left."
"But that means he is here?" Foxy realized. His ears shot up and he peered around anxiously.
"Yes, it is here with us right now. This is it's territory, so if you die here, it'll have complete control of your body without any limits to his power. He could do whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted."
"So all Nightmare has to do is get me here, then kill me? No wonder he didn't save me earlier." Foxy muttered.
"Nightmare, huh? Kinda fits if I'm being completely honest." The voice said. "I've heard this thing go by many names. But this situation is worse than all the others because he actually has a chance at winning this time."
"Then what do we have to do to stop him?" Foxy asked.
"Well..." The voice faltered then went silent.
"There...there is a way to stop him, right?" Foxy asked nervously. "I'm willing to do whatever I have to to stop him."
A sigh echoed throughout the cavernous shadows of the space they were in. "There...is something we can try." The voice faded, as though the speaker was walking further away from Foxy. Foxy followed the sound of voice, then eventually began to see light up ahead.
"This is very risky and I don't even know for sure if it'll work." The voice continued. Foxy began to see the outline of the figure behind the voice against the light.
"Am I allowed to know exactly what this idea is?" Foxy asked? The figure stopped next to the source of the light. It was a circle shaped hole on the ground, with an almost blinding light shining from it.
"This right here is the source of Nightmare's power." The figure gestured to the hole.
"Wait, this?" Foxy looked surprised.
"That is correct." Foxy thought he noticed the figure nod slightly.
"But...why is his power all light like that?" Foxy tilted his head.
"The power of Nightmare wasn't always his. He corrupted it for evil, but it's origins remain light."
Foxy stared at the figure. "Are you some prophesy teller or something now?"
The figure barked out a short laugh, then regained his composure. "No, I'm just doing a horrible job at explaining this."
Foxy held back a laugh then turned back to the light. "What now?"
