Lush greenery passed the window as our car sped down the highway. We hadn't stopped much, twice, once for gas and the other time for Banner to take a bathroom break. As the car pulled into another gas station, which would be our third stop, I got out to stretch my legs. I walked to a vending machine. It was night out where ever we were and very foggy, I could only see the headlights to the taxi. As I pushed in a dollar and twenty-five cents. I felt my watch vibrate. I had forgotten I had it on, it was comfortable. I pulled it up to look at it.
"Ivy?" A frantic voice rang through as tried to recognize the voice. "Sam? Is that you?" I ask, "Yes, Ivy they got him!" He says as I furrow my brows. "Got who? What are you talking about?" I ask, "Hydra, they ambushed me, recaptured Bucky!" I take a deep breath, "Fuck. Are you okay?" Sam chuckles slightly, "Yeah," I breathe out. "I'm going to get Cap, where are you?" I needed to find my mother, if she was still alive, hopefully I was close. "I'll be at an ice cream shop called 'Peach Street' in Brookside. Meet me there as soon as possible." Sam didn't question my location but just said he'd meet me there. I rush back to the car as we speed away.
We were close as we had to stop due to the large metal fence around the demolished town. It was dark and so depressing. The buildings weren't fixed, it's almost as if they cleaned up the bodies and blood and left the rubbage around, it was trashed. Graffiti filled the the open spaces, trashed filled the debris filled streets. In the distance I saw the familiar peach colored sign. I race towards it as Banner keeps up.
"What if this is a trap?" Banner questions as I walk around the back of the discolored, and surprisingly still standing building. "We came all this way for you to try to pussy out, it will be fine, if it's a trap, which it probably is, we'll find a way out." I say as Banner scoffs, "Plus if it all goes to shit you can Hulk out."
I carefully open the door. It was silent, but a frail voice calls out. "Happy 10th birthday my beautiful flower." My breath hitches as I spot a recorded on the counter.
"Now darling, Mommy couldn't afford what you originally asked for, but as soon as I get enough money, I will buy you everything you ever wanted." The tape was playing what my mother had said to me on my tenth birthday. A door opens as a silhouette walks into dim lighting.
"Thanks mommy, I love it." Tigra mocks, she clicks off the record and throws it aside. "Poor Ivy, I can't believe you actually thought your whore of a mother was still alive." I knew she was trying to get under my skin. "Viper knew she didn't kill you, this was all an elaborate scheme to get you here, all those documents were faked, glad you got the message though." Anger builds within me, but I kept a level head. "That doesn't make sense, Bruce Wayne had those files way before I found out about Hydra." I states as Tigra nods her head, "We knew one day you'd betray us, that mission was a test for you. And you failed." Tigra states as I clench my jaw. "Viper could have just killed me. Why go through all of this just to kill me?" I question. "It's fun to watch you hurting, also, Viper thought it was best if I took care of you myself. Teacher kills the student type of thing." She says, I look over at Banner who was almost red in the face with anger. "Well I am not alone." A sound of a gun fills my ears as Banner collapses to the ground, electric energy surging through his body, he falls quiet as I look at the shooter.
It was James, completely decked out in body armour and two guns pointed this way. I nodded, knowing this would probably happen. "Oh, Ivana. I know you well." Tigra says as she walks over to James, standing beside him. "Once I woke up and found out you tricked me, and took James here with you, I realised something." I tilted my head. I was stalling for as long as possible, hoping Sam and Cap would bust through the door at any moment. "I realised I had completely lost the sister I thought I knew, and she turned into my enemy." She snarled, "Why don't you quit talking and just fight me." I state. "You know, Ivy, you're very stupid." I scoff, "No, I just have nothing to else lose, and that makes me dangerous." Tigra nods with a grin. "Enough chit chat, James you stay here, keep a look out, I'll take care of her."
She lunges at me, claws in their full form. I let her tackle me as I wrap my legs around her back, intertwining my fingers, pounding my elbows into her cheek. She rises up, with me still wrapped around her, and powerslams me onto the counter. I groan in pain, flipping off the side.
"I missed fighting with you, but this time, I won't let you tap out." She says as she grabs a handful of my hair, slamming my head into a metal cabinet. Everything blurs as my head throbs. She picks me up over her head, throwing me through a window as it shatters around me. I feel sharp pains all around as warm blood oozes out of my cheek. I grab a rather large piece as the world seems to spin in different ways. She stands over me as I shove the piece of glass into the top of her knee. She cries out in pain, kicking me in the face. I fall back to the ground, spinning around I kick the shard of glass further into her knee as she falls to the ground. "James! Fucking finish her already!" Tigra screams.
I scramble to my feet as he charges for me, "James please! I can't hurt you!" I plead, I really couldn't, I wasn't in the greatest shape to fight him. He charged at me as I moved backwards, "James! Please!" I strain, closing my eyes. His footsteps stop. I look up as he stood there, eyes searching for mine. "Soldier! Finish her now!" Tigra yells again. James continues walking to me, but it was different, he stopped mid-walk, then bent down on his knees, tearing off his Hydra symbol.
"I won't hurt her." He says as his eyes lock to mine, I breathed a sigh of relief as he unstrapped a gun, placing it in my hands. His arms pulled me to my feet, I limped towards Tigra, using James as some kind of crutch. "Ivana, please. I'm so sorry, don't do this." "Fuck you." I spat as I fired the gun, the bullet ripped through her skull, killing her instantly. She deserved a much more painful death, but I just wanted her gone. I dropped the gun as I felt James grip tighten.
"Are you alright?" He asked, his face was close to mine as I could feel his breath on my cheek. "I will be." I say wiping blood from my cheek. The sound of a plane landing enters our ears, a spotlight lands on us as I pull my hand over my eyes. "I'm sorry." James states, I glance back for a moment then I take a deep breath I step out of the ice cream shop, his arm falling off my waist. Not thinking anything of his apology. Sam and Cap run off the plane. "I found him." I breath out. Cap looks around me, confusion lining his features, I spin around but James was nowhere to be seen. "Oh, shit." I say limping back into the store. Banner was still unconscious. I bent to him, shaking him. Luckily Banner didn't see who attacked him. James was still 'dead' to everyone at Shield. "Take him on the ship." I yell as Sam locks eyes with me he does as told, dragging the unconscious Banner onto the metal ship.
"Bucky!" Cap yells as I spin all around. "James!" I yell, limping back into the ice cream shop. James said sorry earlier, was that to warn me he was leaving? "Buck?" Cap calls out, running out the back door. "James!" I yell. There was no sign of where he went, but he couldn't have gotten too far. Suddenly we hear Sam yelling, Cap helps me navigate out front, since I was still limping. "He got the jet!" Sam says, Banner was still out cold, lying on the grass. I looked up seeing the jet disappear in the clouds. "Can we track it?" I ask, Cap and Sam both shake their heads, 'no'.
