Chance

Pinauwi ko na silang dalawa. Wala akong pinatuloy. Wala rin akong pinaboran.

Ng magawa ko 'yun ay agad na ako nagbihis at nagayos.

Nakatutok lamang ako sa orasan habang nagbabasa ng libro ng mapako ang mga mata ko sa orasan. It's nearly eleven in the evening and yet here I am, reading something.

Forsaken Identity

I wanted to laugh at the mere title of the book. A title that makes you think of a lot of probabilities and possibilities.

Ilang sandali pa ng makatanggap ako ng tawag mula sa Pilipinas. It was Charmaigne.

" Charmaigne" Bungad ko sa kanya. It's been a long time since I have talked to her. Namiss ko na din ang kaibigan ko.

" George Cassidy. You are really something. You haven't called for two weeks" She said.

" Busy sa work?" I even questioned myself.

" Busy sa work o busy sa love life" Balik tanong niya sa akin.

" Actually both." I said

" Oh ano na kamusta na kayo ni Vincent?" Tanong niya sa akin. Noon noon lang halos ako ang gumagawa ng ginagawa niya ngayon. I do the asking but now, baliktad na ata. She does the asking, I do the hiding.

" I'm stuck Charm and I don't even know my way out." It was an honest answer from me. Charm
stayed silent in the other line. Tahimik lang siya ng ilang segundo bago niya ako sinagot.

" You definitely know what to do George. You are the master of advices. You know who to choose because you definitely need to choose, George. It's either you choose the love of your life or the man of your dreams. That's practically the same. Even if you look at all sides, you love them both. But I believe one of them is ahead of the other. Kung sino man ang pipiliin mo George Cassidy, tatanggapin ko. Kaya huwag kang gagawa ng pagsisisihan mo. Umuwi ka na ng Pilipinas kapag wala ka pang balak mag-asawa." She told me. I suddenly thought of an idea.

" I'll book a flight then. I'm bound to the Philippines, tomorrow." I said.

Bigla na lamang akong tinawanan ni Charm.

" Kung tatakasan mo ang responsibilidad mo George. Tadhana na mismo ang hahabol sa 'yo kaya tapusin mo na muna ang dapat mong tapusin jan at umuwi ka dito na kasama siya. Malay mo, magugulat na lamang ako, si Alcantara na pala ang kasama mo hindi na si Montenegro." She joked.

My erotic scene with Vincent awhile ago suddenly popped out to my mind.

Damn it! I mentally cursed at the thought of it.

" Parang 'di mo 'to pinagdaanan, Charmaigne Dominique" I told her

" Bakit, dalawa ba si Luke Gin Montero? George, alam ko kung gaano mo pinahalagahan si Andrew but I also know that you feel something for Vincent. George, I honestly cannot decide for you but as your friend, you wouldn't tell me that you are stuck in a position you don't know your way out if you don't love him. And when I say 'him' George, I'm talking about Vincent. You are not going to act this way if you don't. Kilala kita George. I know you as much as you know me. We are both struggling in the name of love. But we need to make the right decisions." She said

Sometimes, right decisions doesn't justify the rightfulness of it. Because sometimes, right decisions are just what we thought of being right. Dahil iyun ang inakala nating tama. But making the right decisions comes with a lot of what ifs, how ever, is this it?
