Paris
Nothing would even be more shocking than having myself seat on a first class private plane beside the billionaire who own the plane himself. My fingers were like plucking the cottonly fragments of the soft pillow sheet my arms were wrapped on to. My nostrils scented the manly perfume from the only man who fortunately promised me a vacation to Paris which I happily said yes to. I mean who wouldn't be happy to that information. It has been my dream to see the Eiffel Tower at night and somehow have a good glance at the Louvre after that. I have of things in mind about going to Paris.
They say that the Story Behind the Eiffel Tower had begun for International Exposition, or World's Fair of 1889, which was intended to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution and the birth of democracy. The French wanted an impressive monument to be built to celebrate the greatness of France. Hundreds of design proposals were submitted in a competition. The fair's commissioner chose Gustave Eiffel's design, but it was so controversial that a petition was signed by over 300 protesting its construction. The tower was to be constructed from Eiffel's mathematical calculations, but some detractors were worried about safety, despite design features such as guard rails and screens.
Others simply viewed it as an eye sore that would overpower the city's other landmarks such as the Arc de Triomphe and Notre Dame.
Three hundred men labored for nearly three years to build the structure, which was originally built for a 20 year lease. Parisians were eventually won over by both its design. The tower was almost demolished in 1909, but was spared because its antenna could be used for military purposes. In fact, during WWI, it was said that the tower's radio antenna played a part in capturing infamous spy Mata Hari.
Until 1930 the Eiffel Tower was the tallest man-made structure in the world. Since the time of its construction over 200 million people have visited this French landmark that almost didn't get built.
The Eiffel Tower it self is famous because it was never supposed to stay there. Gustave Eiffel designed it for the temporary Exposition Universelle, and a lot of crazy other buildings and constructions were all around the Eiffel Tower during the Exhibition. But it looked so strange and became so popular that they didn't destroy it.
In our generation, the Eiffel Tower has been legitimately known to be a romantic place. It has been known to have this romantic expositions that promised love for couples. It has been a mark to couples who wanted to find love. Paris has been known as the city of Love after all.
" Love" I was taken a back for awhile when I heard Vincent call my name. He rested his head on my shoulder before drifting of back to sleep.
This man seriously loves to sleep. He kinda been deprived of sleep for so long.
I was thinking of random things when Vincent suddenly spoke once more.
" Don't get too much excited, Love." He muttered.
" I'm not excited Vincent. I'm more than excited. What if we go straight to the Eiffel Tower when we get there. I bet it's already night time. I wanted to see it" I am praying he agrees. Knowing this man, he would rather drift of immediately into sleeping than exploring Paris.
I heard his soft chuckle. Is he laughing at me. I thought to myself
" Okay, Love. I can't postpone you on seeing that Eiffel Tower" He muttered.
" Good" I replied. He laughed this time.
" What is wrong with seeing the Eiffel tower, Carlos Vincent" I told him.
" Nothing Love. It's just that I cannot believe you haven't came here knowing that you're a woman who goes to any place she wants" Vincent added
I suddenly felt shy the moment he said that. If only he knew. I planned on coming here with Zeke after the wedding. I've waited for years just to fulfill my dream to come here with the man I love. I supposed to come here with my grandma but she told me to bring Zeke with me instead. And she's very ill and weak to travel already.
