The meal was all served. Maria didn't say anything. She was still quite upset with Dasker for what he did. Artos was still laughing on the inside. Everyone stared at Artos. The ones that were in the game room had the strangest looks on their faces. It just reminded him of the whole incident earlier, which is why he was still laughing inside.
"So, Artos." Hinto said "You need to see humans for what they really are. Misguided individuals who don't know what they are doing."
Artos huffed inwardly. That was a joke, right? They knew what they were doing. Killing wolves.
"Tomorrow, we're all headed into town.."
"Town? As in human busy places?" Artos interrupted.
"Uh, yes. Now, if you would be so kind as not interrupt, I would be very grateful. Thank you. Now, you will be courteous, kind, and, under no circumstances are you to talk about who or what you are. We need to stay hidden."
When Artos was sure he was finished the talking, he spoke "Then why do you all go into town if you don't want them to know about yall?"
"Food, supplies, clothing, that is why. We have powers, but the ability to create our own cloths, that we don't have." One of the elder gentlemen coughed. "Okay. None of us, except Aiden."
Artos looked at the elderly man questioningly. The elder raised his hands at head level, then some dark stuff appeared above a small part of the table.
"Dark matter." The elder said "I can create anything with it." The dark matter shifted around into different complex shapes. Then ultimately came together to form a, what looked like a wood carving of a wolf. Then, poof. It was gone.
Artos stared at it till it went away. "Impressed?" Aiden asked.
"Do that again." Artos said in awe.
"Well, I believe there's more to talk about first." Aiden said.
"Yes." Hinto said. "The thing about humans is that they kinda know about us. Sorta."
"Wait. Why do we have to stay hidden then?"
"Well, werewolves, humans who can shift into wolves, do exist. Some argue that it's wolves that can turn into humans, but it's all the same. And then theres the rogues. They are the any wolves that don't live in packs because they don't like rules. It can be werewolf or a wolf. But either way, we have been at war with them both. A really long time ago, some humans found out about werewolves. We were hunted. We were saw as demons. We were burned at the stake. The demon trials were one of the worst times for werewolves. Books were written, the word got out, and we have been hiding our identity. There are some who believe we exist, and believe that we are good, which, some of us are. They write good books about us, to be honest. But then there are those who believe in us and hate us like we discussed. The majority of the world doesn't believe we exist though, so we try to keep it that way. A lot of werewolves die every year because of werewolf hunters. They hunt anything in the supernatural world. Vampires, shapeshifters, sirens, enhanceds. Us werewolves never really fought with the vampires. They don't bother us, we don't bother them."
Artos understood some of what was said, but was lost on the third to last sentence. Vampires, shape shifters, sirens, enhanced. Were they good?
"Are shape shifters the same as us?"
"Nope. They can shift into anyone, or anything. They can shift into wolves, but they aren't werewolves. We are so much different than them, our species and their species can't mix. No offspring were ever produced with a s-shifter and a werewolf."
"Oh, okay."
"We do have human allies. But the humans know so little about us, we're safe... For now. And just about no human knows about us Chosen. The indigenous people of this land knew about us at one point, but they stopped telling their children about us, so a lot of them don't know we exist."
