Artos woke up the next morning refreshed. It was the most refreshed he felt in a longo time. He looked to his right. Maria was still asleep, sleeping like a cub. Hey. This was an excellent time for a disappearing trick of his own. He took a few steps away, then stared at the ground where he was laying. It heated up to his body temperature. Then he ducked into the bushes.

When she woke up, she turned to where Artos was sleeping. But he wasn't there. She rolled onto his spot. It was still warm. Okay. He couldn't have gotten far if its still this warm, she reasoned. She sniffed around for his trail. She picked it up fast, for she had earth power.

Artos saw that it was no use to hide anymore, so he got outa there as fast as he could. Maria saw the movement and did what came naturally. She ran after the blur.

Artos knew he could out run her, but doing it mindlessly could lead to his capture by her... Again.

Maria figured Artos would go around the hill of boulders, so her best bet was to go around the other way and meet him on the other side.

Artos ran to the right of the boulders, but kept veering right. If she tried to climb those to catch him, she'd be doing it for nothin.

Okay. Now he did it. She was at the top, but she could see he was running further to the right. Time to use her powers.

She tilted her head and ran down the boulders. Some of the dirt in front of Artos rose into the air.

It became harder to see in this dirt and dust. The air became harder to breathe. Maybe if he backed outa this stuff. Yeah. It wasn't worth it. He'd escape her another day. He backed out slowly. When he came outa the dirt fog, it all dropped. Then Maria landed on him.

"Ah ha! Thought you could escape me, eh?"

"Well, if I used my fire power I could have escaped you. Not that I really wanted to or anything."

"Aww."

"Yeah. But we used up a few minutes of hunting time."

Maria got off of him. "Well, what are you waiting for slow poke? Come on!" She said, then ran off to find something to eat.

"Slow poke?"

"Yeah."

"Why would anyone stand still for someone to slowly poke them?"

"No no. Its just an expression."

"Oh, okay."

After ten minutes or so, they each had a rabbit. That would hold them both over till they get to the compound.

After they et, they headed back to the house. Everyone else musta already went back there, for they hadn't seen any of them.

They shifted back and went inside. Talia was in the kitchen working one of those crossword puzzles. There was a pot on the range. It smelled like eggs and bacon.

"Wheres everyone else?" Maria asked.

"Most of them went out on a patrol this morning. They'll be back in about fifteen minutes or so. But everyone else is in the game room." Talia replied.

"Okay. I'll be down when they get back." Maria said, then ran upstairs.

Artos sat at the table. "So, the veil is real then?" He asked.

Talia put down her pencil. "Yes."

"Do dead wolves go there?"

"Well, some believe that they do, but others believe that wolves go to heaven and werewolves go to the veil."
