Artos woke up in the same position as he fell back asleep in. Or, maybe it was the original position he was already asleep in and he dreamed about what happened with the mirror. Either way, it was 7:00 A.M. He got right outa bed and rushed to the mirror. He looked hard at it. Then he touched it. It was hard glass.
'Huh' he thought. He went to the door, then went down stairs. Everyone was already there and waiting when he got down.
"Sorry I'm late. The time keeping device didn't obey when I told it to set an alarm for 6:00 A.M." he said.
Obviously he was referring to a time within the last three days when he saw someone take their phone out and tell google to 'Set alarm for 3:30 P.M.'
"Thats because you have to set it with the buttons on the top of the clock." Ender said.
"Ohh." Artos said. This made no sense. You could talk to one device and it does what you want it to do, but other devices don't do anything. "Well, I was basically born a few days ago." He said, then sat down by Maria.
The morning went like most. They ate, made small talk, and made training plans. The plans were as before. Run the maze. They didn't want Artos in the other part yet. He needed to finish his week of being human. After the meal was over, they all had a half hour before the newest members were to begin that days training.
Instead of going to the exercise room, Artos went back to his room. Maria followed him up, sensing something different in his emotional displacement. It is barely noticeable to anyone, but she has an ability that really none of the Chosen has had before and can pick up on even the slightest emotional change if she focuses enough on it.
Artos didn't close his room door completely. Maria pushed the door open with a few knocks. "Hey." She said. "You alright?"
Artos took a deep breath. "Yeah. I'm alright."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. I just had a strange dream last night."
Maria looked at him like, 'So? What did you dream?'
Artos sighed. "I saw my family. They were all there. Ma, Dad, Eddie, Mai, Bobby, Chrissie, Dean, and Jo. It all felt so real."
Maria looked at him. She knew how that felt. When she moved in to start training, she had a dream about her family. It felt real when she dreamed about them that once as well. They both came from the same type of former situation. Her and Dasker's family got killed. They were the only ones to survive. But I can't tell you that yet. Maria will tell Artos, then you read it. No spoilers.
"The only thing strange about it was the mirror." He said pointing at the dresser mirror. Maria looked at him strangely.
"Like how?" She asked.
"Well, I went into the mirror. It didn't break. It just rippled. Like a portal of some sort."
"Like to another dimension?"
"Well, my family was on the mirror side and I was on this side. I crossed over into the mirror. But it was a dream, so it doesn't really matter, right?"
"Uh. Yeah, I wouldn't say it doesn't matter. I mean, there might be nothing to it, but you still might want to tell Talia. She knows a lot about dream meanings." She said, not knowing what to say about this.
"Yeah. I think I will tell her. But later."
They went downstairs to the room before the maze. Dasker, Maria, Artos, and Ender are going to be running the maze.
"Alright." Began Hinto. "The maze has a new exit. The walls will shift faster, and the maze will be more complex. There will be no scent for you to follow. You have to get it done in your human form. Any shifting into wolf form will put you back at the beginning. Do you understand?"
