"Baby I have a question." Lani looked up at me.
"I have an answer."
Lani, Lauren, and I were laying around watching movies. It was a lazy day because neither one of us was scheduled for the studio and Lauren didn't want to do anything.
"I swear to god if y'all start talking nasty again I'll break both your necks."
"Is that a promise or a threat?" I asked.
"A promise. Play with me."
I rolled my eyes and waved my hand at her. She swear she's somebody's mama.
"I'll be back." She got up from the bed and left out of the room.
"That didn't regard what I had to say... But remind me again why you and Bahja ended things?"
"It was too much going on... She wasn't ready to face reality... I wasn't ready for commitment, but besides that she did send a fucked up ass message to me."
"What message?"
I grabbed my phone off the nightstand and unlocked it, going to Bahja and I's messages. I showed Lani the very long paragraph and she skimmed over it. Almost immediately looking up at me.
"Did Bahja tell you where she was going this day?"
"She didn't need to. I wasn't speaking to her and we were already on the verge of not being friends."
"The date of this message says 6/12/17... 10:45am."
"Okay?"
I was confused at where she was going with this.
"Bahja was with me at this exact time on the exact day. We were in a meeting discussing upcoming events, tours, recordings... Etcetera. She couldn't have possibly sent this because we were right next to each other, on top of that throughout the entire meeting she couldn't even find her phone."
I sat up and looked at her, "so you're saying Bahja didn't send me that?"
"I don't see a possibility."
"Why were you two in a meeting discussing a collab? I could've sworn y'all hated each other."
"We don't hate each other. We don't necessarily get along, but I can stand being in a room with her. Plus money was calling, no matter how much we may disagree, you can never turn down money."
"That's true... Are you gonna go through with it?"
She shrugged, "I couldn't be more sure that Bahja really doesn't like me now..."
"Because you have me?"
She nodded, "I still feel bad... You were hers and me and Bahja were really great friends."
I sat up all the way and literally turned my body to face her, "you and Bahja? Really great friends?"
"Yeah."
I started laughing extra hard because I knew she had to be lying. To the world, Kehlani and Bahja makes it seem like they have no heart towards each other... It's extremely ironic that they used to be close friends.
"Z it's not funny, I'm being deadass right now."
"I just don't buy it Lani." I calmed myself down, "how in the hell were y'all EVER friends?"
"You really wanna know?"
I nodded and she sat up, "well I don't know how much Bahja has told you about herself, but in order to tell this story I'm gonna need to say a thing or two..." She sighed heavily, "Bahja and I used to be next door neighbors when we were younger. Her family always had it good. Mine, not so much... But we made a way of everything. And so, Bahja's mom was working a really good job, she was a lawyer... Her father was a singer. There was her, her parents, and Lourdes. Bahja though, was always over at my house. I was raised by my aunt and all, and she treated Bahja like her own as well. We were practically sisters and were inseparable, everywhere I went she went and vice versa. But then when we graduated from middle school and went into high school, everything took an upsetting turn. Her mom and dad were constantly fighting, her dad was abusive towards her mom and she had to live with it for awhile. So her and Lourdes were always with me. The one day everything really went haywire, was--"
