"aha! So wait a minute. Let me get this straight." Beyoncé held the side of her stomach in pain from laughing so hard. "...he just fell asleep? He didn't even give a about pleasing you, huh?" she fell back on the couch; cracking up.
Kelly, on the other hand, couldn't comprehend as to what was so hilarious. "It's not that funny B!" The no bullshit expression on her face immediately changed the aura.
Beyoncé pulled herself together and took a deep breath. "Aw Kells, I'm sorry puddin, but you know you can't tell me stuff like that. No matter how much I love you, I'm gonna laugh! I can't help it!" she held her arms out for a hug but Kelly pushed them away and frowned.
"Fine, be like that." B stood up and straightened her shirt. "Stank heifer!"
"Look who's callin the kettle black!" Kelly huffed.
"Oohhh!" Beyoncé bit her lips and continued walking towards Michelle's foyer. "Don't start with me Kelly!"
"Fine, I won't call you an insecure slut." she laughed and joined her to primp in front of the mirror; wasting time until Michelle was ready to go. She was in her bedroom getting dressed; while they sat outside in her living room talking. It was her birthday and the two bickering females had some how managed to come together and planned a little surprise get together with a few of their associates at Club Furr. To Michelle's knowledge she was just going to be hanging out with the girls tonight.
Beyoncé purposely jabbed Kelly in the ribs and scoffed. "Okay, okay, you're definitely not insecure, but you know I'm not taking back the other thing I said."
"Fuck You!" B hissed and flipped her the bird before she went on to mess with her hair again. "And I wouldn't talk if I were you. At least I don't put niggas to sleep!"
Kelly snarled and looked at her in the mirror. "You know I hate you right!?" she joked and Beyoncé was couldn't hold it in anymore. She embraced her in a hug and tried consoling her between giggles. "Aww okay! That was a low blow, I'm sorry! I'mma stop. I promise."
"Get the off of me!" Kelly pushed her; trying her best not to laugh. She had to admit, that was a good comeback.
"AYE!! What the hell are yall in here bickering about?" Michelle said closing her bedroom door and walking into the center of her posh apartment. "I could hear yall heifers clearly over my TV and that's not a good thing!" she muttered and sat down on the sofa; transferring her things from her huge Louis Vitton bag to a tiny clutch.
Kelly and Beyoncé exchanged a few looks behind her back; making it completely obvious that they were thinking the same thing.
"Girl, shut up!" B slapped the back of Michelle's head lightly and picked up her keys. "Are we ready to go or what?"
"Yea." Michelle finally replied and they headed out the door.
"We aren't going to be out all late are we, I do have to go to work in the morning?" Michelle whined once she realized that they were all getting into Beyoncé's car. That girl could stay out until the sun rose, and still get up and go to work the next day.
"Oh hush!! When you're ready to go, I'll be more than happy to leave." Beyoncé assured her and pulled off; heading towards their destination. By the time they got there, the club was packed. Luckily, B had connections and they were easily able to avoid the long line outside.
Kelis & Nas' Blindfold Me blared from each speaker in the club as they walked in. "Shit, my feet hurt already!" Kelly frowned and Michelle looked at her laughing.
"That's what you get for puttin them too small shoes on! You just couldn't resist huh?"
"Bite me okay? don't think just cause it's your birthday I won't hesitate to cuss your ass out."
"WILL YALL SHUT THE HELL UP AND FOLLOW ME!" Beyoncé screamed a few feet away from them. She was ready to get this surprise shit over and party as much as she could before Michelle was ready to go home. She turned back around and continued walking towards the VIP room where everyone was waiting for them to arrive with the birthday girl.
"Why we always gotta do what she say?" Michelle mumbled in a joking manner.
"You know that thinks she's god's gift to this earth." Kelly sighed and pranced ahead of her uncomfortably. Michelle sighed and followed them to the VIP room; completely oblivious to what was about to happen.
"SURPRISE!!" Beyoncé and Kelly had invited a great amount of their friends and associates; being as thought they shared the same circle of associates. Right off the bat, Michelle recognized a very familiar face and almost bit her tongue from shock. After thanking everyone for coming she shooed them all off to have their own fun and hunted down her two lovely best friends; keeping it in mind that she needed to thank them for planning this. She had to get something else off her chest first.
She found them sitting by the bar between Shawn and a friend of his. Since B was so wrapped up in her guy of the night she pulled Kelly to the side.
"Okay! What the hell is that Kevin dude doing here? Last time I checked, he was not a friend of mine!" Michelle's eyebrows sunk in and she folded her arms. She knew one of the two had to have something to do with him being there. It had been about two weeks since they had met up for lunch at Carraba's and Kelly basically forced her to take his number. After going home that same day she never could find it. It's not like she planned to call him anyway, she was just going to toss it in the trash- just like she did all the others.
Kelly smiled and touched her shoulder. "Chelle, stop trippin I knew you weren't going to call him, so I took the number and called him myself. He seems really interested in you so just give him a chance, please!!!?" Kelly pleaded. She wanted nothing more than Michelle to find love, not to mention she had an eye for match making. "Y'all would be so cute together, Chelle!"
"What about Derrick!?" Michelle chided and let her arms fall while she waited for Kelly to respond. Derrick didn't even exist and here she was using him as an excuse to avoid yet another interested young man.
The only reason Michelle had brought him up was because she was tired of them telling her she needed to get a man all the time. She honestly didn't see the point in it at all. She'd never had luck with relationships and eventually gave up.
Witnessing, all of the issues her parents went through with their divorce, Michelle had contracted some serious trust issues. Something a relationship could never last without.
"Psh. Michelle please give it up honey. You and me both know there is no Derrick!" Kelly smiled and clutched Michelle's shoulder.
Shocked; that she was able to catch on so easily, Michelle's lips formed a simple 'O'.
"What are you talking about?" she laughed nervously; still trying to keep the lie going.
"Come on now, if there was someone, we would have met him by now!" Kelly retorted condescendingly and tilted her head. "Well at least I hope you would have introduced us by now, or are we not special to you anymore?" she joked.
"Kelly be quiet!" Michelle gave up and smiled. "Alright, so there was never a Derrick! But that still doesn't give you the right to go and hook me up with people behind my back." she wiggled her finger in her face and Kelly backed up.
"Ok Okay! Damn! You don't have to talk to him then, I'll just tell him to leave since he's not wanted."
Michelle looked in Kevin's direction; just in time to see him sneaking glances at her. He turned his head immediately, making it seem like he wasn't staring so hard. Kelly began walking away but Michelle pulled her back.
"No, you don't have to do that!"
"Ha! So you're gonna talk to him?" Kelly's smile appeared once again. She was relieved. She really didn't know how she was going to tell him to leave after she practically begged him to come in the first place.
"humph. We'll see, but you don't have to kick him out." Michelle stated before they decided to go their separate ways yet again. Michelle continued walking around, making small talk with the people she hadn't had the time to greet yet.
Beyoncé , on the other hand was still by the bar with Shawn, on the verge of a petty argument. Aaron had just called her cell phone, which she had left with him, not even thinking while she went to the restroom for a second.
"I'm just sayin, I'd appreciate it if you told your little boyfriends not to call when you're with me." Shawn said watching her lips form around the tiny straw in her Long Island Iced Tea.
Barely paying attention to his bitching, she looked around and rolled her eyes before turning her attention back to him.
"Who the hell am I to control when people call me? Huh?" She hid the smile behind her frown very well. He was jealous and for some reason that turned her on. Unlike Aaron, Shawn had some assertiveness and knew how to put his foot down, instead of going along with everything she wanted to do all the time.
He shrugged with a smug expression on his face. "I don't know, you think you can control everything else, why don't you figure it out!"
She sucked at her teeth for a second. "Think huh?" She grinned while staring a whole in the side of his face. He refused to look her in the eyes. No matter how much he tried to deny it, she did have some control over him, starting with those eyes of hers. They could sit around for hours and have an entire conversation just with their eyes and that scared the hell out of him, he was slowly falling in love with her and didn't know how to come out and say it. The fact that she liked to play so many games, didn't help the situation. He knew how she was and if he confessed his feelings for her' he didn't doubt that she'd run off and drop him like yesterdays trash. She'd made it perfectly clear that she wasn't looking for love, just a good time and someone to chill with from time to time.
"Think huh! huh Shawn?" she repeated herself and standing in between his legs. "I don't have to think anything..cause just like I know you can't look me in my eyes right now for a reason, I also know you ain't going NO WHERE, so stop frontin! It's not a good look.." she loosened the grip she had on his collar and took a step back, pleased with her testimony. It was so obvious that he liked to act like he was always going to leave her if she kept playing with his emotions like this, but her; as well as everyone else knew he was there to stay. Plus, the sex was too good to just let him go like that.
Confused and apparently upset, Shawn sat there giving her the silent treatment, while she didn't let it phase her night one bit. The drinks kept coming and nothing was going to ruin her buzz. Nothing!
On the opposite side of the room, Michelle had just finished talking to a friend of hers when she got up and bumped into a tall, muscular figure; nearly knocking his drink out of his hand. The lights had dimmed and she could barely see who she was apologizing to until the guy spoke up and told her it was okay. That voice was too familiar for her liking and she looked up.
"Kevin?" she asked taking a step back and squinting.
"Wow, I was starting to think you forgot my name." he smiled; exposing a tiny dimple in his right cheek.
Michelle chuckled and touched her forehead. Damn he must really think I'm a . "No, no. I didn't forget your name." she replied and crossed her arms while he sat down on the empty sofa behind him. People were slowly starting to descend from the VIP Room and head down to the real party on the main floor. He patted the empty space beside him and she sat down.
"So what took you so long to call? I know ya girl said you were a little shy, but I didn't know it was like that!"
Shy? Michelle was anything but shy, Kelly just used that to sugar coat things. But of course she wasn't going to come out tell this gorgeous man in front of her that she just didn't like being bothered with men period. Too much damn drama.
"What, you had some bad experiences with guys or something?" he spoke up again; jilting her from the trance his lips had her in.
"Oh ..uh hmm..something like that I guess. I just haven't really been pushing myself out there in the dating world like I should, ya know? My girls on the other hand, will do anything to find me a man, main reason why you're here."
"Yea.but...I still don't understand why someone as pretty as you is single." he sighed and let his eyes wonder from the cute spiral curl hair dew she rocked to the tip of her Steve Madden pumps. Michelle blushed; catching him in the act and found herself doing something she hadn't done in years. Sitting down and actually having a constructive conversation with a gentlemen. He was definitely saying all the right things she wanted to hear. She made a mental note to give Kelly a bear hug and even a kiss on the cheek for inviting him because if it wasn't for her- she would have never ran into him again.
She hadn't even realized that about two hours had passed throughout their simple; yet intriguing conversation until Kelly came barging into the VIP room; out of breath. Michelle looked around noticing that Kevin and her were the only ones left in there.
"Chelle!!" Kelly sighed; relieved that she had found her. The frightened look on her face startled Michelle and she stood up.
"What's wrong Kells?"
"We gotta go! B is actin up. I knew I should have kept an eye on her crazy ass."
"What the hell happened?" Once Michelle heard those words in one sentence, she knew something was going down. 'B.actin up.in the same sentence was nothing good to hear.'
"Girl, Aaron's girlfriend is here and somehow knows about him and B. Anyway to make a long story short, the chick started harassing B and they started arguing. She threw the first punch and you knooow B wasn't letting that shit slide. I tried to hold her back but you know how she gets."
Michelle knew Beyoncé wasn't dumb enough to fight over a guy, it was just the simple fact that the girl had disrespected her.
"Where's Shawn?"
"She ain't payin him no mind either!" Kelly huffed and motioned for them to hurry up and come on.
Michelle and Kevin followed her briskly down the tiny staircase and found themselves in the middle of the commotion. Chairs could be heard sliding all over the floor not to mention glass breaking.
"Where the is security" Michelle thought. Her mood had already flipped to the negative side and she was ready to go home. She hated nothing more than someone ruining her happiness, and this was definitely taking the cake.
Kelly, pushed her way through the crowd and the rowdy crowd willingly let them through thinking that they were coming to join. A barefoot Beyoncé was in the center of all of the madness scrapping with some raggedy looking chick while B's cousin Angie stood to the side; holding her belongings.
Shawn looked like he was havin a hell of time trying to hold Beyoncé back too, no one was helping him due to the fact that she was doing some serious damage to the poor girl. Everyone else was too scared to jump in and try to stop her, thinking she'd turn on them. The chick already had a bloody nose and her weave was all over the place, it was obvious she didn't want to fight anymore and was blocking her face in severe pain.
"B! CALM THE FUCK DOWN!!!" Michelle yelled and grabbed one of her arms. Shawn grabbed the other and was finally able to hold her back completely. That still didn't stop her from yelling foul comments.
"SHUT UP BITCH!" Aaron's girlfriend was still on the floor patting her matted weave down.
"Don't be mad at me cause you got the wack ass pussy! BITCH!" Beyoncé yelled out grabbing her shit from Angie before Shawn dragged her towards the exit, with Kelly, Michelle and Kevin following. Security had finally came up off their asses and ended the party sending them on their merry way.
Since Beyoncé drove to the party and was definitely not in any shape to drive back home she handed over her keys; telling them to take her car while she road with Shawn to his place. Michelle and Kelly were just about to get in her car and leave when Kevin stopped them. Kelly sensed that she wasn't needed and kept walking.
"I'll be in the car Chelle." she smirked and disappeared out of eye sight.
"I'm so sorry about this. B can be a bit of a hood rat from time to time." Michelle laughed embarrassed by her friend's decision to basically ruin her birthday celebration.
"No, that's not a problem, she clearly knows how to take care of herself, but that's not what I came over here for. I had a really good time talking to you tonight. I just wanted to know if I could get your number and we could get together some time soon? I know how you women are, get a nigga number and never call." he smiled and she knew exactly what he was talking about. She'd told him the entire story about her intentions to never call but he didn't think it'd hurt to give it another try. After talking for nearly three hours they realized that they had a lot more in common than they thought.
She happily obliged and put her number in his cell phone, making sure he promised to call whenever he had any free time. Kelly pulled up and she hopped in with a smile plastered on her face.
"I hate to say it but.." Kelly started and Michelle laughed. "I told you soooo!"
