With her cell phone practically glued to her right ear, and the strap of her purse draped over her left forearm, Kelly walked through her front door; making sure to kick it shut behind her. After dropping her keys on the table in the foyer, she proceeded towards the kitchen; too wrapped up in her phone call to notice that she wasn't alone in the house.
Roy had been gone for weeks on end so of course she had grown accustomed to him not being there.
Given the option to go home early from his business trip, Roy literally jumped at the chance and was on the next plane home with every intention to surprise his wife.
Creeping around the corner of the kitchen, he spotted Kelly standing in front of the island positioned in the middle of the kitchen and yapping away on the phone. Whatever she was talking about didn't phase him, he was too busy enjoying the view from behind.
Pushing the derogative thoughts in his mind aside, he decided to put them into play and approached her; nearly causing her to jump right out of her skin in the act.
Screaming and fidgeting at the feel of someone embracing her from behind, Kelly fumbled with her cell phone and hung up once she realized who it was.
"Oh my god!" she caught her breath and punched Roy in his chest. "What is wrong with you!?" she frowned; clearly still a bit frightened.
"When did you get back?" she asked clutching her chest and holding her side.
"This afternoon." he slipped his forefingers in her front pocket; closing the gap between them. "I was going to pop up at your job and surprise you but I decided to wait."
With her brows raising in shock, she scratched her temple thanking god that he didn't go along with his first instinct. Greg had already beat him to the punch.
Inhaling the ample amount of Vera Wang perfume sprayed lightly between the nape of her neck and earlobe, Roy muttered. "I missed you!"
Kelly giggled a bit and clutched his arm; pushing him away gently.
"I missed you too." she said dryly.
He chuckled; still holding onto her waist. "Well this isn't the reaction I was hoping for. What's up with you?"
"Huh?" She shook her head; scowling in his direction before smiling and getting her shit together. The fuck was she thinking being so obvious? "Nothings wrong with me baby." she smiled meekly and fiddled with the collar of his shirt. "I just wish you would've told me you were coming home early, I would've had something planned for us." she lied.
Roy's behavior had definitely taken her by surprise. There had been many a day before that he'd return from a business trip and not mutter more than three words to her. Either she was over- reacting or he was serious about this 'changing' act he had brought up before leaving.
After catching up on a few things, Kelly's cell phone began vibrating in her pocket. She knew it was probably Greg calling back to see why she had hung up. Conjuring up some excuse to get some privacy she touched Roy's shoulder.
"Tell ya what, I know you're probably tired. So why don't you go upstairs and lay down, while I get dinner started. How does that sound?" A tiny grin appeared on her glossed lips as she arched her left brow, impatiently waiting for him to respond.
"You sure, I can always help you out." Roy offered. That was definitely a rare response from him. Was he serious or was he just being nice so he could get some? After all it had been 2 full months and unlike his unfaithful wife, he had actually been true to his vows.
She sighed and stood on her tippy toes so she could meet his lips with hers. "I got it. Just let me handle this, plus I don't need you getting in my way around here." Innocently she replied and kissed his lips; flicking her finger under his chin before pushing him out of the kitchen. "Now Go!"
