It was quarter past 4 in the morning and I woke up to Ro crying, I picked Ro up,'cause I don't know what else to do, and I couldn't bear to hear her cries.

"Dada!"
"Hey Buba, what's the matter?, hm, Daddy doesn't like seeing you upset Darling"
"Scawey"
"Daddy's not gonna let anything happen to you Sweetheart, ok"
"Otay Dada"

Ro was slowly calming down, but if I attempted to put her back in her cot, well she would cry harder.

So I held her, her baby blues were looking up at me, the feeling of warmth spread through me, that was until I had to get ready for school, as a teenaged Dad of a toddler would.

"Dada!"
"Daddy has to get dressed Sweetheart"
"No!"
"I'll be back in a minute Baby"
"No!"
"Rowan, you are one stubborn little two year old, I'll give you that, but Daddy has to get dressed to go to school, (sighs), let's go to Nanny shall we"
"No"

So I carry Ro down the stairs to my Mum so I could actually get dressed without a screaming child attached to my hip.

"Mum, can you keep an eye on Ro while I get dressed?"
"Why?"
"So I can actually get dressed for school, she's been up since quarter past 4 this morning and she won't let me put her down"
"Ok, go get dressed Teddy"
"Thanks Mum"

So I went back to my room and got dressed, went back down the stairs, kissed Ro goodbye and then I left for school.

It turned out to be one of those fucking days where I felt like shit, because I wasn't paying attention to where the fuck I was going, so I bumped into the new girl, (I know it sounds like the beginning of those cheesy romcom fucking movies).

"Hey!, look where you're going you prick!"
"Shit, I'm so sorry, I didn't get that much sleep last night, so I'm not concentrating as much as I should be"
"Let me guess, an all nighter at a party like the drunken idiot you are?"
"(Laughs), no but sometimes I wish it was because then it would be a lot easier to explain to people"
"What the hell were you doing?"
"You're new here, ain't ya?"
"How did you guess?"
"Well, most people here know that I have a 2 year old daughter"
"Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't realise-"
"You're new, so I don't expect you to know what the gossip is around here, I'm Teddy Addams by the way, just in case you actually wanted to know"
"Hi, Teddy, I'm Maddie Morrison"
"Well it's nice to meet ya"
"You too Teddy"

So the end of the day eventually came, though it felt like it took a fucking eternity.

"Dada!"

I picked Ro up, then we all started walking to the train station to get home, because in London it was worth having an Oyster card.

"Hi Baby, Mum, did Ro nap at all?"
"No, she's been causing havoc since lunch"
"(Snorts), Proper Daddy's girl then, eh?"
"Don't encourage her Teddy"
"Mum, Ro's an Addams, she's gonna cause some sort of trouble at some point in her life"
"You ain't gonna punish her?"
"Well it depends on what she did Mum?"
"Ro chucked her food at me"
"(Snorts), nah, I can't punish her for discovering that your food's shit Mum, because that would be me being mean to my Baby, and I can't do that to her"

Mum rolled her eyes at that, because she knew that she couldn't argue with me about it.

"Dada!"
"Hey, I know you missed me today, but you can't shout in my ear"
"Sowwy Dada"
"It's ok Sweetheart, (kisses cheek), so how was Nanny's food today?"
"Icky"
"(Laughs), it was huh?"
"It no funny Dada"
"You're right Baby girl, it's not funny that Nanny's food isn't edible"

Georgie started laughing his head off, and Mum definitely didn't look impressed, not that we cared at the time, because in one way or another she was never impressed.

Looking back, I guess when you first become a parent at 13, you can either step up to the challenge or you can run from it, and honestly, I don't entirely blame my Mum for slightly running from it, because she didn't have the option of abortion at the time, (also her mother was a Spanish Catholic, so...).

So we got home, I brought Ro up with me while I did some coursework, because she was extra clingy that day, not that I was surprised, 'cause toddlers were like that sometimes, I wouldn't have traded it for the world, and then now looking back, I still wouldn't trade it for the world, 'cause the world isn't worth me not having my children.
