"You're not-not him," I say, feeling numb. "It's impossible."
"Is it, Rose? Is it?"
"Of course it is! No one can change from Dhampir to Moroi. That's impossible! You're probably just a spirit user with a glamour trying to play pranks on me," I say, my confidence growing.
"That's how it used to work, Roza," he purrs. "Of course, seeing you again and having some spirit in my veins would have a drastic effect." His expression turns sad. "And you won't believe me. Now you're doubting my love."
His explanation made sense. Everything made sense. Him, me. Us. "Of course I wouldn't," I murmur. "I love you, after all."
"As I love you," he smiles down at me.
I kiss him, and everything only gets better from there.
We were apart for so, so long. For almost ten years, I haven't felt his warmth, haven't touched him or have him touch me. Everything is all right now.
He kisses down my neck. "Can I bite you?" He murmurs.
"Yes," I say, anticipation building up in me.
His teeth sink into my neck, and I'm only focused on that one immense feeling of pleasure. I feel my consciousness slip away from the world, wrapped in this wonderful feeling.I wake up next to him. As I open my eyes, his loving face stares down at me. We continue where we left off last night.
"Of course, man!" I hear Dimitri say.
Who is it? I think, tired, having just woken up.
"I'll be over right away." Dimitri continues.
"Who..." I begin, my voice heavy from sleep. "Who was that?"
Dimitri snaps his mobile phone shut. "We're going to court, Rose."
"Why? I don't want to go there!"
"Hmmm?" He smiled gently. "Don't you want to see Ivan? Shouldn't we bring him with us?"
"I...." I say, at a loss for words. "Of course I do."
"But....?"
"I don't want to see Lissa. I've already hurt her enough with my ten year absence."
"Easy. I'll give you a spirit charmed bracelet, and disguise you. I'll just say I'm taking back Ivan, and I've found someone willing to love me despite the fact that I have another woman, dead of course, in my heart. You won't even have to see her. Trust me?" He stares into my eyes.
"Yes...." I murmur.
He takes my hand gently and slips something cool onto it.
I look down.
"A ring?"
"Yes. You'll be the future Mrs. Belikov, after all. Plus, no one will make you take off you're ring. You can pretend to be too scared to damage it."
"Thank you," I say gratefully.
He bends down and kisses me. "A little blood, Roza?"
"Sure," I say, before I black out in pleasure.
