Chapter 16

I wake up in a huge, fluffy bed.
"Dimitri?" I call. He's not in the room.
I get up. "Dimitri?"
I look around. There's a bathroom, a walk in closet and the door. It interests me so I look around. I haven't seen luxury in so long.
In the bathroom, there's a package and a note.

                                 Roza,
If you're reading this note, evidently I am out. I'm asking you to
please wear this dress and call the maid outside the door to help
you with your hair and makeup. I will be back by 6pm.
                                                                        Love,
                                                                            Dimitri

I pull the contents out of the package, revealing a black, skimpy dress that reminds me of what I wore the night of the lust spell.
I grin.
'Damn, Dimitri. You really know your stuff.' I think as I slip on the dress.
In the package, there's also a rose necklace that closely resembles the necklace that was charmed with the lust spell. My grin widens. I drop the necklace over my head. It must have cost a fortune. How sweet.
There's a knock at the door and I remember the maid.
"Come in," I call.
I hear the door open by a gap and close again.
"Miss," the maid begins. "Would you like me to do your hair and makeup?"
"Sure." I'm not used to being pampered. "Thank you,"
"No need to thank me, Miss."
Her hands work through my hair with  a brush and a spray bottle full of water, untangling and combing it.
I close my eyes and revel in the feel of comforting hands working on me, a foreign feeling from the ten years away from the Court and Lissa, not to mention the five years before that as a guardian, when I focused solely on Lissa's well being. And a little bit on Dimitri. I blush, remembering our heated moments, both from ten years ago and now.
I feel the hands pin up my hair with a sense of finality, and only then do I open my eyes.
"Do you like it, Miss?" The maid's voice is coloured with anxiety and a little well concealed pride.
I gasp in awe. My hair is in a beautiful bun on my head, with just the right amount of complexity and  creative messiness. My once brown, matted hair is now silky, shiny and smooth.
"If you don't like it, I can change it." The maid says quickly, misinterpreting my silence.
"I love it." I breathe.
"Sorry, Miss?"
"I love it! It's so elaborate and... just plain beautiful!"
"Great!" The maid looks relieved. "Would Miss like me to do her makeup now?"
"Sure! Thanks!" I smile, hoping it seems warm and calm, though I'm anything but calm. I want to  jump around the room and shout my love for  Dimitri and how thankful I am to have him and how he's amazing for accepting me for all of my flaws.
Once the makeup is done, I don't even recognize myself anymore. It's elegant and exquisite. "Thank you so much," I gush. "You're so talented." I pause for a moment, considering. "But.... why does he want me in this getup?"
The door opens and Dimitri appears. "You look stunning, li- Roza."
'Li? What was the 'li' supposed to be?' I decide to brush it off and ask my question. "Why am I wearing this? I mean... I like it, but why?"
He smiles. "It's a surprise. Please stay in this room until eight pm. I will come back to pick you up. I have some duties to attend to." He kisses me gently on the cheek before leaving to room and closing the door behind him.
'What is going to happen at eight?' I think
