A/N: I know, I'm a terrible person. I'm really sorry! But I was sick and school's a mess and yeah. On the up side, my Instagram is going to be one year old on February first! I'm so proud haha. And thank you all so much for commenting and stuff. You'll find out why Tris and Four broke up soon...
Alright, back to the story that you guys probably want to read.
Lauren's gone? As if our lives could be any more fucked up. "What?" Shauna snaps, whipping around. Tris looks about ready to flip. I recognize the look in her eyes- she's about one more sentence away from a breakdown. And it will not be pretty.
I grab her by her upper arm and tug her to her feet. "We're leaving." I say quietly. "I'll get you home." She nods, sniffles, and we start for the door.
"Where are you two going?" Uriah asks.
"Home." I say, the word coming out sharper than I intended. "Tris isn't feeling well."
Four stands up. "I'll take her, Mar."
I shoot daggers at him. "Haven't you done enough to her already, Eaton?" He flinches. "Come on, Tris." I give her arm a tug.
She digs her heels in a little. "Let him take me home." She says quietly. "You knew Lauren better than I did. You can get all of the details now."
"They can update me later." I say.
"Marlene." She looks ready to cry, and it breaks my heart. Tris is my friend, but lately she's been so unhinged it's depressing. Depressing enough that this look she's giving me now wants to hang my head in shame and do whatever she says.
Instead, I straighten my spine and don't let go of her arm. "We're leaving, Tris."
She shakes her head. "No, I'm leaving. You're staying here and figuring out what the hell is going on and updating me later."
"Tris," I sigh.
She looks at me through her eyelashes. "I'll be fine, Marlene. I'll call you if something happens." I nod and slowly let go of her arm.
I smack Four's shoulder hard with my own. "You fuck with her and I'll burn you alive, Eaton. You had your shot and you fucked up big time. You don't get another chance, are we clear?"
"You don't own her, Marlene." He narrows his eyes.
I narrow my eyes right back. "I might not own her, but she's one of my best friends. Don't think you can screw her over again." I sit on the couch next to Zeke. Uriah and I got into a fight last week about how I'm treating Four, and we broke it off. I won't date someone who defends that asshole.
And more importantly, I won't let my friend date said asshole.
