A/N: You guys should probably add my story, Future Stories and Announcements to your Library if you follow me or if you read a lot of my fanfics. It's just to keep you guys updated and stuff :)
I get home from work and drop down onto the couch. I rub my hands over my face and close my eyes. Damn. This is too much.
My mom won't get back until the restaurant that she works at closes. She called and said that she's working three shifts today to try and scrape together some extra money before the taxes are due.
Guess I'm selling my car, I think. Even with my mom always working overtime as a waitress, and with me and Uriah working two jobs, we can still barely pull together the money every month. And unless Uriah and I suddenly get scholarships, we aren't going to college, either.
I let out a small groan and run my hand over my head. Since my dad up and left, things haven't been the greatest but we pulled through. And then, of course, they decided to raise our fucking taxes. We've gotten rid of our TVs, don't use electricity during the day and when we don't need it, and we got rid of our old cell phone company- and our iPhones, even if we did get them for fifty bucks online- and we still can't pull it together.
And on top of that, Peter, Molly, and Drew start school again tomorrow. And Marlene and Uriah are fucked up, my mom is dating an asshole, and let's not forget the fact that Lauren decided to break her court agreement even though she's the dumbass that nearly overdosed on heroin.
Damn. My life is really fucked up.
My phone buzzes on the couch next to me, and I pick it up without checking to see who's calling. "Hello?"
"Hey. You busy?" Four. Should've guessed. It's always him or Shauna or Uriah calling me. Lynn and Marlene never call unless they can't reach anyone else. "Anyone else" meaning my brother, obviously.
"Nope. Pity party's over. What's up?"
"You're not gonna believe what I just found out." He says. "Are you sitting down?"
"Yeah."
"No sharp objects in sight?"
"None."
"Anything breakable around you?"
"What the hell is this about?"
"I'll take that as a yes." He sighs.
"Four," I say, my annoyance making its way into my voice. "What the hell is going on?"
He lets out a sigh. "Tommy Raybach's got a new target. And you'll never guess who it is."
I laugh bitterly. "Try me."
"Marlene."
