A/N: I swear to god I am sick of people commenting on the original story saying that I needed to have some way where I tell them who's narrating. I mean, come on people- THIS is why you read chapter titles!
I'm not quite sure what exactly happened to Lauren- I know that she was at a party and she O.D.'d on heroin or something, and then they put her in a juvy-and-rehab place, but how did she get out?
According to Lynn, Lauren got out thanks to someone pretending to be a guardian and they got out. I'm worried- Lauren's never been the kind of girl to be in on these things, so what the hell happened?
Zeke sits down next to me on the couch. "Hey, little brother. What's wrong?"
I groan. "Everything's gone to hell."
"Lauren'll come to her senses." He tells me.
"That's not exactly what I meant." I tell him.
"Oh. You mean Marlene."
"Duh."
He sighs, tilting his head back. "I don't know what to tell you. Call her."
"She blocked my number."
"Go to her house to see her."
"She threatened to use her taser on me."
"Talk to her in school?" He's obviously running out of ideas.
"Do you really think that'll work?"
He sighs again. "Maybe not. I'll see if maybe Shauna can talk to her."
"Probably not."
"You're probably destined to die alone with forty cats and a hooker."
I give him a look. "Forty cats and a hooker?"
My brother shrugs. "Hey, it could happen."
"Are you saying I'll be rich? Cats are expensive to maintain."
"No, I'm saying I'll be rich and have given you a shitload of money out of the kindness of my heart, and you spent it on useless shit like forty cats and a hooker." He gives me a funny look. "And out of what I just said, you latch onto the forty cats and figure out that they'd be expensive to maintain?"
"A hooker would be expensive too, I guess. But not as expensive as forty cats."
Zeke shakes his head, getting up from the couch. "I have raised you wrong."
"But you didn't raise me."
He shoots me a joking glare. "You don't know that." And then, in classic Zeke fashion, he leaves the room dramatically.
My phone vibrates on the leather couch next to my thigh. I pick it up without looking at the caller I.D. "Hello?"
The familiar voice shocks me more than anything so far this week. "Hey Uriah. It's Lauren."
