Ama POV
The same regular morning routine happened again. Me arguing to call in sick and Josie bossing me around and waking me up. It happens a lot. It mostly happens at the beginning of the school year, but besides that, my mom wakes me up. "Ama! For the last time waking up!" Josie said annoyingly. "Dude! Tell mom I called in sick!" "Do you feel sick? Do I need to get mom?"
Gosh, this girl is vulnerable.
Josie shut the door once again.
Time for another day of school
I changed into my regular clothes in tied my hair up into a ponytail. Ran downstairs to meet me with omelets. I loved omelet days. Especially the ones that my dad made. "Well good morning, Mandi!" My dad smiled. Yes, Mandi is one of my other nicknames. "Hey, dad."
It's going to be a regular school day! Everything happened, as usual, the morning. The bus ride was the same and it seemed like the day would go on its boring schedule, but I was wrong.
I sat in my usual seat. I was getting my notes out when our teacher came in a new student. Without a doubt, he was taller than me. He had a brown quiff that could swoon any girl. Had these beautiful brown eyes that were so attractive. There are many brown eyes in this world, but these were different. He had headphones around his neck and a black denim jacket.
He's probably one of the dudes who walk the halls with his headphones on blocking out the rest of the world.
"Class," our teacher got our attention, "This is Hayden. Make sure he feels welcome." "I'll make sure he feels welcome." Heard a popular girl whisper to a friend. I heard the teacher tell Hayden, "Go pick out your seat." The person next to me had Hayden in front of him. I didn't know the kid next to me. We only talked twice. It was because he lost his pencil.
The class went on and I took my notes, but my mind was wandering somewhere else once again.
He seems so quiet. I bet a lot of girls will fall for him. I wonder what his personality is like. He seems sweet. Woah, Ama. Slow down! You don't even know this kid!
Class ended and I headed to my next class. To my surprise, Hayden was also there! Then an idea struck me, "Mr. Cox?" The teacher looked up from his desk, "Yes, Ama?" "May I switch lab partners?" The guy that was lab partners with me glared at me. He knew I was the only one that let him copy off of the notes. "I'll think about it, but from now on he still your lab partner."
Great...
"Looks like you're stuck with me." Dumbie said
"Ode to Joy."

Thank goodness classes were fast because it was lunchtime! The cafeteria food was crappy as usual, but at this point, I think I'm used to it. I was going to sit with my squad, but in the corner of the cafeteria, I noticed a boy was in alone. It was Hayden. "Hey, girls. I'm going to sit with Hayden." "Oh, you mean the cute boy in class?" One of my friends teased. I rolled my eyes and walked to the corner of the cafeteria.
It's ok Ama you can do it.
He's just a boy! What's wrong with you?
"Uh...hey."
That was so stupid, Ama.
"Can I sit with you?"
Hayden looked at me with those deep brown eyes of his and nodded politely. He was eating his lunch and drawing in a notebook. He was using Crayola pencils, but the scenery was gorgeous. It was a picture of a cliff and the moon and stars in the background. On the cliff, there was a silver wolf howling at the moon. "You are great at drawing." I complimented.
