How can I remain calm when I know everybody can now listen to our new podcast and are undoubtedly forming opinions on it this very second?

"Megan! For the seventeenth time, would you please take a breath?" Emma implored as I was practically bouncing off the walls.

"No, I can't calm down. It's happening. T minus 7 minutes and counting!" I squealed.

"What?" Emma laughed from the sofa. We were at Abbey and Nate's flat because as Emma put it "you're not tearing my flat apart with your nerves".

"It's a phrase originally used by NASA, I believe," Abbey chimed in and opened the oven to check on the cake.

Sweet lemony scent immediately flooded the room and I actually took a deep breath in to bash in the smell. Abbey claimed that she wasn't much of a cook or baker but whenever she put her mind to it, she always did amazingly. She'd made a lemon drizzle cake about a month back and I'd raved about it for just as long.

She was making it again for Nate and I's "launch" of our podcast.

"It's almost done," Abbey said and sounded satisficed. "I'll need to cool down a bit before we can get around to eating it."

"Oh, I know someone else who needs to cool down," Emma huffed from her position on the sofa and then broke into a yawn.

It was early Tuesday morning but I had been unable to sleep and been out of bed for hours already. The same couldn't be said for my partner in crime; Nate was still snoozing in his room. Abbey had said to leave him for now because he'd had to stay up really late to edit an important video he'd helped shoot for a company.

How he could even sleep at a time like this was beyond me. I was buzzing with excitement. Months of planning had gone into this project and the scope and thought behind it would only become visible gradually over the coming weeks and months but this was the starting point.

"Is it always like this when you launch things?" I wondered out loud.

"Pretty much," Abbey confirmed. "At least for me. I get really on edge. My "on edge" is just more sitting in a corner overthinking rather than pacing a track through my floor."

"Sorry," I muttered as I stopped my pacing and threw myself onto the sofa next to Emma. I couldn't hold it for more than a minute before I was on my feet again.

"I'm waking Nate," I said adamantly and strolled into their bedroom. I saw Abbey shake her head at me in the corner of my eye but she didn't audibly protest so I ventured on.

Nate was curled up in blankets and Patch was sitting by the bed with his head on the mattress. The beautiful dog looked up at me hopefully. He probably didn't like that Nate was just sleeping when the house was all filled with my nerves.

"What do you say that we wake this boy?" I asked Patch and grinned mischievously.

I yanked in his duvet, effectively pulling it from his body in a smooth motion. I would not have dared it unless I felt like we were close friends. We'd become it over the time that I had been in Abbey's life. Once he was just a YouTuber I watched on the screen and made edits of, now he was a treasured friend, who currently looked less than pleased with my casual regard.

"Wake up, sleepyhead. Our podcast is launching in like two minutes!"

Nate groaned, rubbed his eyes and rolled over. He was sleeping in only his boxers and I almost giggled at the sight. He was an attractive guy and had been a "celebrity" crush of mine back in the day. Now however, he was Abbey's boy and I only saw him as a friend, though I could still appreciate the view.
