The feeling of someone watching me continued to throw me off as I tried to mediate.

I inhaled deeply, held it for five seconds, and then exhaled slowly. This was repeated for a few minutes while I tried to regain my focus and clear my mind. However, the feeling of being watched just couldn't be shook from me.

"Damn it, Ember!" I grumbled, opening my eyes to see she was sitting directly in front of me. The black cat was just looking up at me with her big orange eyes, almost as if she was studying me. "What?"

She meowed loudly and moved to get into my lap.

"If you can be quiet and go to sleep, you can stay there." I told her, brushing my fingers through her thick, dark coat for area moments.

There was a soft knock at the door and I didn't have to read any minds to know who it was.

"It's open." I spoke, blowing out the candles on the floor around me.

"Hey." Clint said as he walked in and closed the door behind himself.

"Hi." I picked Ember up from my lap and moved to sit on the bed.

"I can't.... I can't keep doing this, Shyla." Clint shook his head, moving to lean against the dresser. "Two days and you're not letting me near you enough to even kiss your cheek. I've tried talking with Levi but he said you just need time to get better. Wanda says different though."

"What did she say?" I spoke quietly.

"She said something about a dream you had while we were in France. But she wouldn't tell me anything else."

I continued to rub Ember, trying my best to find a way to avoid this.

"Look at me, Shyla." Clint murmured, moving to sit on the edge of the bed. "What is it?"

His words were deja vu, taking me back to the dream for a moment.

I shook out my head gently and put my palm on my forehead.

"It's so complicated, Clint, and-and no one understands me." I whispered, on the verge of crying already. This was so stressful.

"Try me." He moved to sit on the bed in front of me with one leg bent so he could face me.

I kept my eyes on my cat, but then I looked to the necklaces around my neck. Minutes passed before I actually spoke.

"Last night while you were out getting me Chinese, I did this spell that would let me go back to the past, but just a few days into the past. I went back to when I was in the hospital, asleep." I tucked a piece of silver hair behind my ear and continued. "I found out that when I first flatlined, the dream started. Then when I was brought back, the dream ended."

"You were only gone for a few minutes. But they were the scariest four minutes of my life." Clint stated, placing his hand on my knee. "Keep going. You're doing great."

I shook my head, closing my lips and locking my jaw. My hand moved to his that was on my knee and he held it.

"What? Why not?"

"The dream.... It changes things." I said quietly.

Clint was silent for a moment.

"Why?"

"Levi wasn't there." My sight fell back down to Ember. "I—,"

"Look at me when you talk, Shyla." Clint cut me off. "Please. Your eyes are gorgeous. I want to see them."

I let out a heavy breath and lifted my eyes up to meet his.

"Can you start from the beginning?"
