Fortified! We worked at bracing the windows and doors. The house was actually the second line of defense. Mom had had dad install a 7 foot high fence around our property originally, to the annoyance of many a neighbor, to protect her little garden of “Eden.” Now it was more than fitting as the first line of defense.
They were still gone, Dad and Ash, still with Jason. There had been a lot of arguing there in the moments before Dad had left. Now Mom was pacing! 24 hours.
As of the last two days, everything was in a shutdown. The closest CDC to us was a good couple of hundreds of miles off, still to close, but better than some. We had no real idea how quickly these “zombies” could arrive. Already we knew that the military was fighting a battle with them. Sketchy reports were surfacing on the air of raids and tactile surges.
They were strong though. Very strong. We really had no idea what to expect.
