It was warm, bodies were littered everywhere. Sleep from exhaustion made even the concrete a preferred bed. I laughed to myself, I didn't imagine anyone would have though this funny, but three months of chaos, and the entire world was shifted. Perception was just one aspect.
I hunkered down in an overhead loft. Dawn was breezing the horizon and I could see its misty shades through the slates in the aluminum shutters. We would sleep for hours, while we out waited the zombies. Well rested and ready to go for twilight's advance. I settled in, when I heard the shifting of the steel beneath me. It gave little groans as someone climbed its slates to reach my preferred position. It couldn't be human, other than the sighs, there was no other sounds.
Holding my breath, I was still as he topped over the landing, and invaded my space. My senses when on extreme. All five screaming out at the awareness of this stranger! All begging me to welcome him in. "What do you want?" I whispered.
Suddenly he was raw, just as unkempt and dangerous as I. "Do you feel it too then?" His voice rich, deep and dangerous. It matched his body. Raven black hair, eyes a bright, glowing emerald. Dark shadow graced his jawline. It made him look dangerous and...sexy. His body was like ours, only more muscular, more defined. He was male beauty in the flesh.
I felt the curl of heat in my abdomen. And desire swirled. Fire. Raging. "What do we do?" I asked him.
His smile was awkward, which put me more at ease, and I felt a bond beginning. Felt a deep awareness that I'd never experienced before.
"Lets see where it leads us." He said in a husky voice.
And I welcomed him in. Evolution served a purpose and I was all in for the ride.
