Ash
The smoke was thick. Harsh sulfur and ash as it coated everything around us. Congesting the lungs and stealing oxygen. We were not afraid; but neither were we stupid. Strips of once white cloth covered are faces. We now looked like we had gapping black pits for mouths, every breath in straining the fabric to the limits of it filtering ability. Ours eyes burned. Even with our extra vision, we were inferno of flames, hatred and fear for the humans.
They'd done the inconceivable. They'd unleashed the weapons of massive war. Bringing even more destruction to a world still reeling from the first wave and he and Larien were caught in the aftermath of the cities destruction. It had worked. Zombies had gone down and not gotten back up, but at what cost. The world could not suffer this much destruction and be expected to survive to support the remaining human and in turn their race.
Officially Hell had reigned down upon Earth.
