Where to start? God, that really is a hard question. Lets start with some backlog.

The Flu. Not the kind you think of now. This was Adarain's Flu. It started in the poorest sections of the world. It didn't pass too quickly at first. There was time to study it, to question its existence and its proprieties. Then there was plenty of time to make a vaccine. So when it did begin to spread, there was a vaccine in place. Thousands and then millions got the vaccine. And when Adarain's arrived, the human population was ready.

We were so wrong.

Not everyone got the vaccine. Alot of people were untrusting, after all, this flu was mysterious. Still, they have no real idea where the strain began from. So, the flu arrived and people got sick, people got better, some people died. And afterward, it was forgotten.

Then the 2nd strain of the flu arrived. It was violent, brutal. Quick and efficient in its ability to put people on the brink of death, and pushed millions more over the edge. People were afraid, terrified. A vaccine arrived and the lines were hours in the making to ensure inoculation. So many did not question this time. Some still did though.

Still, it was not passed by air, it was passed by contact. They could not figure it out, the scientists. People, including my mother, pulled us out of school as quickly as she could. It happened in waves, so quickly that the government stepped in and made it mandatory for children to go to school. Failure to comply was prison time. Why?

Nothing made sense.

Mom petitioned for home schooling. We were only waiting for the approval.

Then it happened. Day 1.

People who got the flu without vaccine were fine, people who got the vaccine and no flu, were fine.Everyone who got the vaccine, and still contracted the flu, broke out with the 3rd and most deadly strain of Adarain's.

And this is where we find ourselves today. Trying to survive.

Mom had sent Ash to school. And Dad was finishing getting ready for work, when the broadcast came across the TV. The screech of the government alarm, pierced the eardrum and caused instant attention to the TV.

This is where the nightmare began.
