New start in Mooresville||A Hayes Grier Fan Fic

Chapter 6

We all walked down the stairs, or at least Hayes, Jessica, Skylynn, and I did. Jake and Nash were already sitting at the table by the time we all got down. It seemed like everyone was having a good time. All the kids had a friend and the adult were laughing and smiling. I started to think that living here wasn't going to be so bad.

Everyone sat next to their friend in a squished table. The table was full of foods like mashed potatoes, peas, salad, and even gravy. I watched everyone talk while getting some food. Jake and Nash were in a deep conversation about social media and celebrity crushes. Skylynn and Jessica were talking about the movie Frozen. The adults were talking about all sorts of things, just having a good time.

I looked over at Hayes who was starring at his plate then around the table. He looked over at me and his blue eyes sparkled. I gave him a quick flirty smile and looked into his eyes. I could feel there was something between us, more than a friendship, and I liked that feeling.

"You have a really nice house.", I said to Hayes.

"Thanks. I like it here. I've made allot of memories here too." He said smiling about his thoughts. "I plan to make more memories here, maybe you'll be in one of them."

I smiled at that thought. Something was telling me that I wanted to be apart of his memory, that I wanted to make him never forget me. "Sounds like a plan to me." I giggled at how dumb I sounded.

I over herd Jake and Nash talking about hanging out tomorrow. Finally we all had a friend to be with. I was happy for Jake too. When we left Pennsylvania he left behind the popularity and friends. Nash is his first friend here, and hopefully they will stay friends for a long time.

But me, I'm a whole different story. I've never been popular, the girl to date, or the girl with hundreds of friends. I've always just been there. Here I've already made a friend. I'm starting to think that North Carolina is my new start at a good life.

We were almost finished eating when I felt a hand brush against my leg. I turned to Hayes with a stupid grin on his face and started to crack a smile myself. His hand was on the edge of his chair and I could tell it was his hand that brushed against my leg. I blushed a bit and continued to eat.

Once everyone was done we all sat and talked some more. We all enjoyed one another's company. I surprised that I was enjoying NC so much. Best of all I have amazing neighbors. Just then all the kids were dismissed from the table and we were free to hang out around the house.
