A Violet Flame

Episode 21

Sadao dodged each attack from Rin and Lucifer, occasionally getting nicked by one of them but all in all, still alive. His mind was a blank as the disbelief of what was going on filled his mind. Not only was Lucifer dating his precious Rin but now they were both fighting him. Granted, Sadao was trying to pummel Lucifer so he could understand to a degree. But all he wanted was for Rin to spend time with him. 

As Sadao allowed himself to be hit and flung down to the earth, he eyed the cold and empty sky where the two were located peering down at him. 

A blink, and then another. Something cold and unfamiliar slid down his cheek and he wiped away the strange liquid. But the more he wiped away, the more came to replace it and he gave up wiping it away altogether as another feeling washed over him.  It was heavy and hot, and the sound coming from him wasn't one he had ever heard before. It continued until it was hard for him to breath.  

Rin and Lucifer landed next to him and through the strange sound coming from him he could hear Rin asking, "Is this normal? I kind of feel bad." 

"In the many years I've spent serving as his general, I've never witnessed this before. Is this what humans call crying?"

"I think he's crying. Did we beat him?"

"Nah, he's still alive so technically we didn't win yet."

Rin's face came into Sadao's view and he awkwardly turned away.

"You..okay?" Rin inquired. 

Sadao sat upright and sniffled as he reached for his cut off arm and began  cradling it. 

"Sorry about that," Rin muttered. 

"You...really do hate me," Sadao muttered.

There was empty silence as Sadao stood up. His eyes stared lifelessly at the ground.

"I...don't hate you," Rin muttered.

Those words caused Sadao's eyes to widen and he stared at Rin.

"You don't hate me? But I-"

"You're annoying and I'm still pissed at you for killing the old man but...it's weird. You're Satan but you don't-agh, forget it! I'll kill you one day but not right now!"

Rin crossed his arms and turned his back to Sadao while mumbling something inaudible.

Sadao blinked and slowly stepped forward. He was overcome with joy and threw his arm around Rin's back holding him from behind, blatantly ignoring Lucifer.

Confused, Lucifer could only watch as Rin awkwardly stood there with Sadao currently crying into his shoulder.

Rin and Lucifer exchanged glances, both confused and shocked at the same time.
