A Violet Flame

Episode 36

Emi wasn't sure what had happened but as she glanced between Lucifer's furious expression and Sadao's one of mild amusement she assumed the devil had instigated it. 

"Is something the matter?" Sadao inquired, in a taunting voice. He crossed his arm and began smiling, not a hint of fear on his face.

"I know it was you! You'll pay for what you did!" Lucifer shouted, lurching forward. He yanked Emi away from Sadao as he attempted to punch him in the face. 

Sadao didn't seem to mind and caught the punch with one hand, a smile curling across his lips, "What's wrong? Why're you so angry?" 

"You know what you did! Don't try to act innocent with me!" Lucifer roared. 

"Calm down, you're scaring the customers!" Emi yelled. She summoned her sword, her hair turning silver as a result. "If you two insist on fighting I'll have to put you both down!"

Neither demon seemed to pay her any attention as Lucifer began to attack, sending a blast of energy from his hand towards Sadao. 

Quickly moving out of the way, Sadao managed to dodge the attack and leaped behind a knocked over table as more attacks were sent his way. 

"What now?" Layla questioned, having crawled next to him.

"Well, he's figured it out so I suppose the only thing we can do is flee," Sadao replied with a shrug.

"I really think we should apologize and set things right," Layla said, a look of worry on her face, "I mean, this isn't right. I know you're concerned about Rin but-"

"Hey! What's done is done and there's no going back on it! There's no way I'm letting my precious son be with the likes of him." 

"But-" Layla paused.

The sounds of the attack had ceased and it had become oddly quiet. The only sound that was heard was heavy breathing. 

"He's a jerk, a stupid jerk who ruined my relationship all because he's jealous," The voice of Lucifer said after a moment. His voice was laced with sadness and Layla couldn't stop herself from shooting Sadao a disappointed frown. 

"Even so, that doesn't give you the right to cause trouble." 

Layla and Sadao sneaked a peak over the table to catch sight of Mephesto standing in the middle of the gaping hole with his hands on his hips. 

"Come now, what would your predecessor think if he saw you attacking Satan in such a pathetic way? If you're going to kill my father do it later and make sure to make him suffer." 

Lucifer clicked his tongue, then glanced back with an evil look in his eyes as he glared at Sadao before walking towards Mephesto and leaving.
