A Violet Flame

Episode 32

Staring long and hard, Emi couldn't help but feel something was off. At the register Sadao kept spouting "Yes Master" to every customer and moving in an almost robotic motion as if he didn't know how to properly move. His arms would jerk towards the items and occasionally spill fries or some of a drink as he handed them to a customer. His behavior was strange but Emi couldn't decide if it was because Sadao was being stupider than usual or was sick. 

A part of her wanted to get up and ask him if he was alright, but her pride wouldn't allow her to. Instead, she remained seated and observed his odd behavior.  Sadao continued moving in the ridiculous fashion and acting like a complete clutch , even worse than Chiho usually did. Eventually, one of the co-workers ushered him to the back and out of sight obviously trying to hide the cringy display. 

Deciding that whatever Sadao was up to wasn't worth her observation, Emi stood up and began heading out of the restaurant. As she reached out to push open the door, it opened on its own and she found herself face to face with the one person who made her weird.

"Oh, hello," Yukio said, flashing a smile. 

Emi's face instantly heated up and she silently cursed herself. She didn't know why, but every time she was around him she was thrown off balance. Is it demonic powers? She questioned, trying to figure out why her mouth didn't seem to want to work.

Yukio was one of Sadao's sons so it made sense that he would have demonic powers. That was the only way she could rationalize her odd behavior. When she finally was able to respond, all that came out was a warbled, "Hey." 

She tried glancing away as she noticed Yukio peering at her curiously.

"Are you okay?" He asked. 

"Um, yeah I'm fine," She managed to say, "What brings you here?"

"It's my lunch break."

"Oh, right."

Emi was about to leave when Yukio surprised her by saying, "I'm guessing you're looking after Satan right? If it's not too much trouble, want to sit at a table with me?" 

 And so, Emi found herself sitting across from Yukio questioning what to do.
