Calum's flower crown up above^.^ he looks so smol aw. -not my photo, credit to the owner-
*Edited*
"So, this is how you make a flower crown, Calum. You just take some wire and hot glue the flowers on, but I recommend using ribbon instead of wire. It looks better and is a lot easier," Ashton explained. Calum nodded and looked through all the ribbons and fake flowers Ashton had.
He had so many, it made it hard to choose. After about five minutes of Calum biting his lip, a nervous habit he'd acquired over the years, and looking through all of the flowers and ribbons with Ashton watching him fondly, he finally found a ribbon and flowers.
The ribbon was a light green and the flowers were baby pink. Calum held them up to Ashton, as if silently asking if they would look good together and look good on him.
"That would look lovely on you, Cal," Ashton complimented, smiling.
Calum said a 'thank you' and grabbed the hot glue gun from the wrong side, taking it from the front instead of the handle.
Calum squealed as the hot glue burned his hand a bit, and just as Ashton was about to start freaking out and asking a million times if he was okay, Calum bursted out laughing.
Ashton laughed along with him, as they both had realized how stupid of a move Calum made, and Ashton took the hot glue from him.
"You turn it-" Ashton explained, flipping the glue gun over carefully and handing it back to Calum, "-like this."
"Oh! Thanks! Okay yeah. Yeah that-that seems to make more sense," Calum laughed.
Calum carefully started gluing, and once all of the flowers were stuck on the ribbon, the glue had dried, and Ashton had finished with his, Calum insisted on them taking a picture; together.
"W-what? Um, why don't I just take a picture of you with yours on?" Ashton asked anxiously.
"Please Ash? You don't have any pictures of you and me together and it would be really cute! Please?" Calum whined.
"I- I- ugh, fine. Only for you," Ashton sighed, walking over to his dresser to get his Polaroid.
They were about to take the picture until they realized they didn't have the flower crowns on.
"You know, if you really want us to take a picture together with flower crowns on, we might need to be wearing the flower crowns," Ashton chuckled, putting his on.
Calum smiled and attempted to put his crown on, but it just slipped right off.
"Oh! Here, let me help you," Ashton said, taking the flower crown from Calum's hand.
"Thanks, I get really confused on-" Calum paused, realizing how close there faces were since Ashton had to adjust the flower crown on Calum's face.
Ashton leaned in and Calum followed, and just as they were about to kiss, they heard a loud barking and screaming.
"Shut up, Buster! You're gonna wake the whole damn neighborhood, you dumb dog!" Ashton's neighbor yelled.
Ashton and Calum bumped heads awkwardly, and Calum sighed when he though to himself 'That could've been my only chance to kiss him, and now I probably never will. I probably screwed this up. This is probably all my fault, and now things are going to be so awkward- great going Calum! You ruined your one chance just like you mess up everything else that could possibly be good in your life.'
Yet, all Ashton could think was, 'He probably doesn't like me, who would? I like him so much though...'
They both looked at each other and chuckled, moving their heads away from each other.
"Uh so, lets- lets take the picture now, right?", Ashton asked, looking at Calum, awkwardly scratching the back of his head.
"Please," Calum said.
They both looked into the camera to take the first Polaroid and smiled. In the second one, they made stupid faces. Ashton said Calum could keep the third picture they took, and when they posed for the third, Calum sneakily kissed Ashton's cheek right at the moment Ashton took the photo. That was a picture Calum wanted to keep, always.
Ashton gave him a look of happy surprise and said, "we'll hang the first two above my bed."
They hung the Polaroids up with the other ones on the fairy lights and got dressed in their pajamas, and when they were ready for bed, they sat down on Ashtons bed.
They sat there in silence for a bit until Calum suddenly asked, "Do you watch horror movies?"
"I've never seen one," Ashton replied.
"Let's watch one. I haven't seen one either, I've always been too scared" Calum suggested.
"Why do you suddenly want to watch one now?" Ashton asked, turning on Netflix.
"I don't know, I um, I feel safe with you, I guess," Calum said, curling into Ashton's side as Ashton leaned his back against his headboard, laying out his legs.
"You're always safe with me, love," Ashton whispered, turning off the lights with a remote and locking all of the doors downstairs with an app on his phone, as the movie started.
They had decided to watch The Shining as their first horror movie, and it scared Calum more than he thought it would. Ashton wasn't as scared, just grimacing every once and a while when Jack Torrance would smile creepily or laugh. But Calum, he screamed every time anyone ran, and anytime there was a loud noise in the movie, he'd jump in Ashton's arms. Ashton would always be there to comfort Calum and tell him it was just a movie and they could turn it off whenever he wanted. Calum insisted that they finish the movie though, because he really didn't want Ashton to think he was a wimp for not being able to handle the movie. What Calum couldn't see was the way Ashton looked at him lovingly whenever he would hide in Ashton's arms, or the small hint of fondness in his eyes.
Finally, the movie ended, which Calum couldn't have been more thankful for.
"Do you want to watch a happy movie to fall asleep to?" Ashton asked Calum, who was still curled in his arms.
"Y-yeah, just- you can choose the movie," Calum stuttered out, still terrified from the movie they just watched.
"Well, I don't really know what movie to- oh wait! I know what we can watch!" Ashton said happily, causing Calum to raise his eyebrows.
"W-what is it?" he asked.
"My favorite movie ever! It's called About Scout and its seriously the best movie ever," Ashton said, going to the movie with the remote and clicking on it. Calum smiled when he saw how happy Ashton looked when seeing the movie begin. He'd never seen it before, but it brought a light to Ashton's eyes that Calum doesn't see a lot. He loved it.
They got under the covers and Calum laid his head hesitantly on Ashton's chest, internally grinning when Ashton wrapped his arm around Calum tightly and kissed his forehead, saying "goodnight beautiful". Calum smiled and whispered a 'goodnight' in response. He couldn't believe it though, Ashton believed he was beautiful, of maybe he was just saying that, because Calum didn't believe he was beautiful, he thought he was too ugly to be even remotely beautiful. But Ashton said he was beautiful, and for once in his life, Calum believed that maybe he was.
