Chapter 3 || If You Bring Home a Guy, He's Your Boyfriend

While I was locking up, Colton was still beside me, watching my every move. I was expecting him to leave, what with my not-so-subtle hints and all.

"Don't you have somewhere to go?" I looked up at him from my squatting position.

He stared at me. "Me? Er.. no."

"Shouldn't your manager be worried or something?"

"I'm supposed to be on vacation so he's not going to be pulling his hair out trying to look for me." he told me.

It was only now that I realised he was carrying a backpack.

"You don't have any place to go, don't you?" I asked him, finally realising the truth.

He scratched behind his ear and smiled sheepishly. "Is it bad if I said yes?"

I sighed. "Don't you have some cash around you or something? You can book a room at a hotel." I got up, slinging my bag across my shoulder and pocketed the keys to the café.

"You see, I checked around and there's no motels nearby. The cheapest hotel room costs about 1000 dollars per night." he admitted.

"What did you expect?" I asked him. "It's a tourist attraction here after all."

He hung his head low.

"So you don't have a place to stay?" I asked for confirmation.

He nodded.

"You really didn't have this planned, didn't you?" I laughed lightly at his sad face and his droopy body.

"What are you laughing at?" he quickly snapped his head up to look at me.

"I'm laughing at you, Butt Boy. Come on, you don't mind sleeping on the couch, do you?" I asked him.

"You're letting me stay at yours?" his eyes were wide as he stared at me like I just told him that I was Santa Claus.

"It's pretty lumpy." I warned him beforehand.

"I don't care!" he shouted and threw his hands around me, nearly knocking me down since I wasn't expecting that. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"

I looked at my arms that were flinging at the side and sighed. I wrapped my hands around him and patted him gently. "You can let go of me now."

"Oh, er.. Of course." he let go of me and scratched behind his ear again, which I realised was certainly a habit of his.

Not that I was paying attention or anything.

"Come on then." I sighed. "It's going to be a long walk."

One thing I realised about Colton, is that he's an extremely unfit person. After 5 minutes of walking, he was already out of breath, bugging me to take a break. You would think that since he was a singer and all, he would had to have a great stamina so that he could cope during concerts and all, but no. He was ten times worse than I was, and this type of walking is the closest thing to exercise that I ever did.

"Are we there yet?" he whined childishly.

"No."

"Why do you stay so far away from where you work?" he questioned out of curiosity.

"Because we can't afford anything better." I told him as we were reaching towards the poorer side of town. "Be careful, the road's a bit under-developed."
