Chapter 12 || The Bus Does Not Go Choo Choo

"What is the meaning of this?" I asked her while holding the box by the tip of my fingers, not wanting to contaminate my fingers too much.

"It means exactly what it looks like." she grinned as though she had just accomplished a herculean feat.

"You do realise that I'm underaged, right?" I gave her an unimpressed look.

"Right." she nodded in realisation. "Oh well," she took the box away from me. "More for my use, I suppose." she shrugged.

"Mum!" I shouted in disgust.

"What? It doesn't mean that I'm in a wheelchair that I don't do the dirty, you know." she replied. "I'll have you know that I've got a few guys in line that would be happy to roll in between the sheets with me."

"Ew. I'm going to go now." I shuddered in disgust. I did not appreciate that bit of information about my mum's sex life.

"You're leaving already?" she asked. "I was just joking!" she called out.

I turned back and waved to her.

"Are you sure you don't want this?" she asked, referring to the Durex : Excite Me condoms.

"Ew. No!" I shouted and went to shut the door.

"I'm just going to throw this box which costed me about 10 bucks." she sang, as if she knew that would get a reaction out of me.

"I don't care!" I sang back.

"Here yo-Really?" she asked, halfway handing the box to me.

"Mum. And why would I want condoms for?"

She suddenly burst into a huge coughing fit.

"Mum, are you okay? I asked her urgently.

She waved me off. "I'm fine." she coughed some more. "Doing normal things normal teenagers do?" she replied to my previous question.

I stared at her skeptically. "I don't do that." I told her.

"You don't?" she coughed a little bit more.

"Go and see a doctor, mum." I told her. "I can cancel the trip and bring you to the clinic." I suggested.

"I'm fine." she raised her hands up in surrender.

"I'm going now. Are you sure you're okay?" I bit my lips.

"You sure you don't want it?" she ignored my question.

"For the last time, no!"

"Your loss!" she shouted before I had closed it.

I opened it again and stuck my tongue out at her and firmly shut the door behind me. That has to be the most awkward conversation I ever had with my mum in a long time.

Trust me, one week is a long time.

Have you met my mum yet?

"What took you so long?" Colton asked as he jogged lightly beside me.

"You're jogging!" I pointed out in shock.

He looked at me blankly. "I jog. Sometimes."

I shrugged. "Could've fooled me."

Colton slowed his steps into a walk snd pouted all the way to the bus station. "You've got the money?" I asked him.

He nodded and handed me a wad of bills.
