For an hour I stared at the box with my hand rested on the lid. He had left the room to give me a moment, just in case something went wrong. A secret that had been kept from me from my birth lied beyond a piece of wood. I questioned wether knowing who I was would be a good thing. I'd lived my whole life oblivious to the world around me. I gave in.
The box creaked open, and a torn up faded paper was placed inside. A letter. Gently I unfolded it before beginning to read it:

Sky,
I would like to begin my letter with an apology. You must know I am deeply sorry for causing your story to go this way.

Just reading the opening statement made my bones go cold. I was frozen. I had so many questions.

I know you are curious, so please, read to the end.

There was a time in your life when you were not any bit human being, but only beast. Meanwhile, a book that held everything we knew about our world was in danger of destruction. We knew that no object could protect the secrets anymore. So I chose you. You, sky, know and see all. You hold the magic of many generations of hate and love.
I do regret my choice with all my heart, but wherever you may be, I know you are handling yourself. But just one warning for you. Someone will try and use you for your powers. Whatever you do.

Stay away from pan.

Merlin.

The confusion quickly cleared as I began assessing the letter. Magic? Knowledge? Pan? Why? I could feel something flooding into my mind. It was something familiar.
I saw myself, but through the eyes of Baelfire. I could see the smile that used to constantly plague my gentle face. I could hear his laugh. There was a skip in time. It was blurry, yet it was as if it was happening before my eyes. It was Bae, his head resting in his hands as it did when we first met. But he's older. I see flashes of him running through the familiar forest. First it was silent. Then he called for me. Eventually it lead to him just running. Running from his father. I shook my head in an attempt to escape this hell, but those visions continued to haunt me.
Eventually they ended, and I used the back of my hand to wipe the tears from my cheek. The door creaked open. I didn't turn around. I didn't want to be weak. I would not be broken by these mind games. "I'm sorry, love." I couldn't bear the loneliness. As I turned to face him the tears began to fall and I gave up.
I wrapped my arms around him and sobbed. I felt him hesitate before gently resting his hands on my back. It felt as if the world had gone quiet. For a moment I felt comforted like I had when I was with Baelfire. Of course, it always came back to him.
"So is it true?" I asked, taking a few steps back. "Aye, it seems to be so," he replied, a sad expression on his face, "but pan mustn't know that you know, or we will both face the consequences." I froze at the name. I saw his story, his past. I couldn't go to that place.
"How can you so easily leave me somewhere so terrible?" I almost shouted, "right as you begin t-to..." I could feel the rage growing in my stomach. I could see the way he weighed his options to himself. "Why do you even have to think about this? Just because I'm not human, it doesn't make me soulless!" I was as surprised as he was at my sudden outburst. I settled the growl that had threatened to escape. "Hook I-" "I understand, you need a moment." And then he walked off, leaving me alone once more.

Sky where are you
Leave me alone
I'm sorry
Stay away from pan
He can't know
How could you?
