Pan woke me that day. His devilish voice echoed in my ears. He lead me outside to a clearing. "You think I'm foolish, dont you?" I took a step back, confused and aware of how unpredictable he was. "I-I... What?" Was all I could say. "The pirate showed you the letter. I can tell that you lied about not knowing why you're here. It's pretty obvious." I felt my heart stop. I looked at him in worry. I didn't know what to do.
"With your power comes magic. And I will teach you to use it. You see this cuff? It prevents your magic from working. If you try and use your magic to escape, you have to wear it. Now look at your hands."
I glanced down to see my hands glowing a mint green color. "Now focus it at that tree." Suddenly beams of light shot from my hands into the tree, destroying it.
Magic seemed to become instinct in a day and I could easily perform some difficult tasks. My final lesson was to make things grow. I closed my eyes and focused. When I opened them, flowers grew from the soil, the sunlight making them glow. My eyes wandered to Pan, who gave me a look of approval. The acceptance made me relax, for I feared his harsh judgement. "Do what you wish with your magic, as long as you remember the rules." And then he was gone in a puff of smoke.
"That was amazing," I heard Jay say, emerging from the dense woods. He picked one of the flowers I grew and placed it behind my ear. "Tiger lilies, ay?" I nodded with a small smile before hugging him tightly. I had a way to escape. He didn't know that, but it didn't mean I had to hide the fact I was happy.
Jay and I walked together gleefully. I hadn't notice his hand slip into mine, but I didn't mind it. Later we sat under a tall tree and talked of nonsense. When he left, I climbed to the top to find hook. I could see him on the beach again. I needed to tell him about my newly discovered powers. We met at the tree line and I jumped to hug him. The warmth of his arms still comforted me no matter what the situation. "What's that behind your ear?" He asked with his hands rested on my shoulders. "N-nothing," I stuttered out as I threw the flower aside. He raised an eyebrow at my obvious lie, but didn't ask questions. "I have some news that could help us..." I said with a smile," look at my hands." Once again they glowed vibrantly. "And you can use it to get off the island?" I nodded before smiling back at him. "Just keep your ship close to the shore, I'll make my way there in a few days."Little did I know it would be much longer before I saw him again.
