Chapter 7 - The forbidden apple

I went next to them in the doorway to say hi.

"Oh, Marie! I'm glad to see you again, sweetie!"

Miles came next to me and kissed my both cheeks under Alex's hateful look.

"Hi, Miles!"

"I'm sorry. I'm really sorry, my friends!" he apologized over and over.

"No problem. Stay chill, Miles! It's ok..."

"Just kinda awkward" I wanted to add.

I rearranged my top and I got scared when I heard a lot of noise coming from the stairway. No!!!!

"Whoooaaa!!! Alex, my man, you don't know what you've missed last night! The girls from here... They're amazing!" Nick started to shout with excitement after giving him a huge hug.

"Ooohhh... Marie... looks like someone didn't get enough sleep last night!" Matt started howling like a wolf until Alex threw him a friendly fist in the arm.

"Won't you invite us inside?" Jamie complained.

Alex gave me a demanding look.

"Oh, sure, it's ok, guys!" I said loudly.

Everyone got inside and Matt got closer to the stereo.

"Oh, that's that guy... Clarke... Cooper Clarke! Ohhh... you naughty lovebirds!"

"Matt, will you please fuck off?" Alex asked politely and Matt backed off.

Awkward. Very awkward. Everyone thought I'd just slept with Alex Turner. If only I had... But damn, I was close!

Matt put on "Song 2" by Blur and started to headbang. How can someone live this way? Party and party and party again and afterwards another party... I'm giving up...

"Tomorrow we're leaving. So what are we doing today, my friend?" Jamie asked.

I went in the kitchen, leaving them decide what they should do with the new album. I found an apple and started to bite it with appetite. I was starving. It was sour and I loved it.

"Oh, the forbidden apple!"

I didn't notice Miles standing behind me.

"Will you guys please stop?" I started to complain. "You know, there was nothing between me and Al, ok? Nothing! So please... what is personal remains personal, ok?"

"Oh, I'm so sorry for bothering you... Yeah, Alex is usually... I don't know, different to girls, if you know what I mean... and the girls, they're different..."

I rolled my eyes. Alex came from the other room and saw the disappointment on my face. He sent me a kiss through the air and I responded it with a smile. But it wasn't a simple smile, it was the smile someone sends to the person they love... and that was exactly my situation. I simply loved Alex!

"Darlin', do you want to come with us downtown? The boys are leaving soon and..."

"Oh, yes, sure... give me 5 minutes to change my clothes and I'm coming"

"Come here!"

He hugged me so tight I could hardly breathe.

"4 hours and I'm yours" he whispered in my ear and this made me shiver.

4 hours. It wasn't that much, was it? I could resist, couldn't I?

We met Miles's new girlfriend downstreet.

"Hi! I'm Laura, Miles's girlfriend" she showed me a huge smile while running her long fingers through her long curly blonde hair. Damn, she was beautiful. Very beautiful. By far more beautiful than me. And that made me feel awkward around her. Very awkward.
