It had been the best month of my whole entire life. Everyday, I used to wake up in Alex's arms in his huge hotel room or in my small humble apartment, look him in the eyes and get ready to face a new day. Sometimes, I would give him a couple hours alone to focus better on the writing process, while I was going to the gym (I had to keep fit for his high standards, though he always insisted that I was looking amazing and blah blah blah). Then, we would walk around the city, or go for trips around the country, or just lay in the park... And then, everyone could guess what we were doing after returning home.

I had no idea which day it was or what hour. I was under the spell of love and there was nothing I could do about it.

I was at Alex's door, trying to control my pulse and breath. Scarcely had I touched the door, when Alex opened it from inside and showed a huge grim.

- How was your day? he asked me as I was slowly walking inside.

My breath intensified and I felt everything turning around me. I had to sit or I was going to collapse on the cold floor. I wanted to cry. I wanted to scream.
I did it again. I attached to the wrong person. To a rockstar. How stupid could I be to do that! I wanted to take a knife and get my stupid heart out.

He was packing.

- We gotta talk.

He took my frozen hands and sat with me on the hard sofa. He must have noticed the scared look in my eyes.

- I'm leaving.

I could see that. Every shelf was empty, there was nothing thrown around the room anymore, everything was packed.
A tear slid down my cheek.

- Why are you crying?

How could he ask that? Like it wasn't that obvious! He looked too happy. Of course, because he didn't care about me!

- Are you afraid of long flights?

What did he mean? Long flights? Not really.

- What do you mean? I managed to whisper.

- Are you afraid of flying? Across the ocean? Some people have this problem and it's always a pain in the ass to convince Nick to travel to America. Once we really sedated him.

He started to laugh. Was it funny? Leaving your girlfriend on another continent, after telling her how much you love her, is it funny? For a rockstar, maybe.

- I hope I won't have to do the same to you! By the way, have you packed everything? Talked to your friends? said goodbye?... You'll be gone for a while...

What?!

- Wait a sec... You mean... I... You want... Me? To... Come with... You??... In... AMERICA?! Or...

- Wow, you finally got it. I was afraid I had to draw you! How could you forget? It's June 20th! I talked to you about this day so many times.

Oh, yes, he did... And I always promised him I would think about it and avoided the subject.

- But... But... I don't have a visa, I don't have anything packed, I'm not ready, I...

I could finished the phrase as my lips were suddenly crashed by his.

- Don't worry. Everything is fine. Everything will be fine. Let's go to your place and get things done, ok?

I opened fearfully the door of my apartment.

- Make yourself comfortable. I suggested Alex as I opened the cupboard.

I took the JD bottle out and poured into two glasses. I handed Alex one, after I drinking mine in a second.

- And one for the road now! he suggested seeing my rush to drink all the bottle at once.

- One for the road. I repeated passively.

I still couldn't believe what I was doing. I searched for my suitcase and started to stuff it with clothes.

- Al?

- What's on your mind, Marie?

- No, it's... Just... Are you sure you want me? To come with you? In... America?...

- Of course I do! I clearly do! More than you can imagine! Because I love you!

He kissed my scruff, as I was standing in front of the wardrobe. I stopped.

Was it right? Was it wrong? I was ready to leave my small cosy safe apartment, my favourite city in the world, my country, this continent in order to go some unknown place on the other side of the ocean, a place I knew no one?

It took me two years to get used to the life in this city and now... Was I ready to trade everything that took me so long to achieve for a boy I've met only a month ago?

- When is the flight? I asked.

- In three hours. We should hurry.

***

- A champaign! Alex ordered the stewardess.

- What are you celebrating? the blonde girl asked while serving us.

- I don't know. The beginning of a new life? Alex suggested.

- Maybe... I whispered.

The plane took off. Goodbye, sweet London! I rested my head on Alex's shoulder and watched the distant lights. There was no way back.
